spares
I've been offered a pile of bits for an S1 XM including the following in good condition
4 doors
hatch
seats (electric)
switches
good dash displays
almost brand new strut top
now, my question is, of this, what will fit an S2?
I'm guessing doors and hatch are the same, apart from the rear spoiler and door cards, as will be the strut top and some of the switches, etc.
But what of the seats - some XM S1s I have seen don't have a split rear and that's an essential for me.

Re: spares
Out of the list of items you have probably the hatch would be the only common part!
Sure the doors and hatch will fit but the design of the innards and likely the electrics
on the doors is totally different between s1 and s2.
The seats will have differing electrics too, again fastened the same way. The door cards
and dash displays won't match the s2 you have.
Watch the strut top as there were differing diameters of strut...

Re: spares
S1 Leather in a hatch was NOT split at all...
Ive got a Base Turbo D here, with manual front seats, but noticed the rear seats ARE split!
Im sure the Velour trim in Si cars is not split either..
The strut top is interesting, because the Diesel here has One Good top and one poor one, and my DERV needs both.. Which side top is it??

Re: spares
No s1 leather split on the back squabs - not sure about s2's mind.
The Si velour or what I'd call jersey cloth does come as a split on the back seat and some did
have heaters in SEi's not specc'd with dead cow coverings. There were base "i" spec cars with
and without split rears and some even have moulded into the backrest headrests rather than
separate jobbies.

Re: spares
I thought only estate leather would split? Alcantara leather spilts on hatchbacks.
My Si and Sd don't have spliting seats.
The wiring looms could be exchanged from the S2 car to the S1 if they aren't compatible.

Re: spares
OK - there are light units too (front and back), which genuinely would be handy for me.
I don't know what side the strut top is from but the car was a 2.0 petrol.
parts are near stafford, which isn't too far for me

Re: spares
No parts are ever worth passing up on if they're easily available and cheap!
The body coloured trim on the rear light units can be unclipped and swapped
if they're the wrong colour. As far as s1 headlights go, the only likely problem
would be whether the inserts have yellowed being older though the RHD glass
pattern never got updated on s2 UK cars.
It could be beneficial getting the x2 lower front wishbones to have built up
with new bushes ready for replacement and get the filler shim anti roll bar
casting bracket that holds these if it's good as they break up with oxidation.
If you want to get more involved with cost/removal the trailing rear arms would
be handy to have as cheap spares...
If you're looking at the car for a range of bits please check out the brake pedal
switch if it's an auto as I'd love one!!

Re: spares
Hi Andrew,
The S1/1.5's will NOT fit the the S2 models due to the difference in the outer case lug positions which carry/support the nosecone/grill.
Take a look/read thro' THIS thread for more info.

That's not correct !andmcit wrote:............... As far as s1 headlights go, the only likely problem

Re: spares

the s1 and s2 update unless of course you try and save the steering rack or trailing arms!?
Let me guess, they're different too? What on earth were Citroen on; in the Cx s1 to s2
redesign theVbig obvious stuff like bumpers and dash changed but everything else remained
as before rather than remanufactured ever so slightly differently (yet still the same).
I'd understand changes to improve reliability and durability but that bit seems to have been
left out with the newer window mechanisms...
It may be easier in the space of a few lines here to list what bits ARE the same on the x2 Xm
variants;
Bonnet
wiper motor
Doseur valve
rear arms/brake calipers
tail lights
and nothing else in between?

Re: spares
Mine does, but the ones I had from new didn't as it was an optional extra.robert_e_smart wrote:
