I cannot see an easy way to do this , but even with a little encouragement from my 4lb lump hammer wouldn't budge it, and i guess the only way do to it is to remove the rear exhaust box , which would give more access, but trying to get them back on correctly i fine is a nightmere in it's own right !!!!...

It''s easy to do, but you do need the exhaust out of the way.
Did you remember to de-pressurise the system as well as lower the car, it makes a vast difference to how much the sphere binds on and how much fluid sprays out when undone.
All that's needed is a fully de-pressurised system, a few taps round the neck of the sphere with the hammer, then it will undo easily.
F&R centre spheres are different to each other.

They are tight, does your chain wrench give you a good tight grip on the sphere?
I have only used a hammer and chisel (CX rear Spheres) and the Pleadies sphere removal tool. The hammer a chisel method is effective if you have the room.

A decent oil filter strap wrench is ideal for spheres and never fails, unlike a chain wrench. I once broke a chain wrench undoing ones on a BX.
Fully de-pressurising makes an enormous difference to the tightness.

Hi all.
Yes i did depressurize the system, but to no avail !! but i guess as you say that the exhaust has to be out of the way, ! but i have never taken one off and got it back without it leaking, il'l get meself armed with a pot of Gum gum, and attempt it agian i a few days

,
Why didn't they put an access panel in from the boot ? that would have been far to easy

You won't need exhaust paste as the joints are flanged, they only leak if not aligned properly. When fitting an exhaust put everything together loosely and give it a good shake to settle it, then tighten up.

I took the hydractive sphere off my car when I was modifying the electrovalves without taking the exhaust or spare wheel carrier off.

Christ !! how'd you manage that !!, you must ave small hands
I did manage to take the spare wheel carrier off, after fighting with the rusted bolt, and emptying a can of WD40 on it !!
But will have another go again in a few days.

No real difficulty. Much easier than removing the exhaust and spare wheel carrier.
