it's free and rolling - even with a flat tyre! Brake discs aren't really corroded! It is bone dry underneath - and any mud there has dried to a powder.
£200 - should I marry, snog or avoid?

Sounds good to me, does the engine sound OK, clutch disengage?

Always expected the underside to be very good considering how dry the garage looks
and the owner appears to be the fastidious type - how many guys are IAM members!?
If the exhaust and tyres check out you could be getting a damned good buy - see where
an offer of £200 get's you.
I'd go for it! But I am a compulsive Citroen purchaser...

£200 is the deal - haven't tried to start it - I didn't want to until I'd done a deal and was ready to take it away. I think it'll go with a battery and get a day insurance and drive it home. Back box looks OK - still shiny. Tyres all have decent tread, spare is up and almost new, so it would be £150 scrap, a variety of bits I could do with that I could upgrade mine with (leccie seats, rubber mats, mudflaps) and a lot of bits that would be OK. Am tempted to take it straight for an MoT with my XM's tyres once it is up and running.

I'm confused - are you still saying it'd be scrapped or put on the road = guess it's dependent on the MOT outcome!?
Try the test with the tyres too!! Don't be too surprised if the tester finds binding brakes - this one always get's me
after I've brought a car out from a period of lay up in dry storage where I rotate the squad so to speak.
Still can't go wrong for £200. It'd be nice to see it kept running I guess in no small part due to the fab colour.

It is too good to scrap bodily - no I'm thinking worst case (see pessimist post earlier). Worst case is £150 scrap metal, a few hundred worth of bits for mine. Best case is it passes a Mot and then I sell it as a runner. My Mot station is very very good and 600 yards from home.

Good luck with the car Campbell. I hope it runs well. I'd prime the filter housing incase there has been any diesel leak back. I'd start it before you make any offers!
Mechanical bits are easy to sort out; bodywork isn't. I think you will be pleasantly suprised.
