Activa for Dean??

Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

Activa for Dean??

Not to my taste, but some of the "styling" tweaks could be undone.

it did also need a heater matrix when i saw him last summer but the car IS perfect, its had all the door handles colour coded and it looks like brand new outside.
Not sure about the colour coded dash but none of that matters.
Timing is bad though, ive got the xm waiting for me to put a new rack in it and im running around in the rover i bought to sell on so parking is tight, that and ive just torn the kitchen apart and its soaking up all our money doing the new one :( i have drooled over this car for years though!
i know that he takes it to a mainland specialist for everything that needs doing, even spheres, i think he's had it into pleaides a few times too from what he said the last time i saw him.
Really is a nice car people.......................anyone fancy lending me the £2500 he will want for it

I just don't see any UK Activa commanding more than £1k, £1.5k tops no matter what's been done to it.
Even if it does have a sunroof! ;)

With a dead turbo this will be struggling to be worth the £250 part of the £2500 price - that's just the
sad reality of what the market values these at. The fact it's a s1 that's been accident repaired with a
challenging 'what's it hiding' bodykit appearance will offset the low (if genuine) mileage.

One man's idea of upgrades and improvements may very well be a turn off and another's reason to
resist bidding - I don't see many Cit enthusiast bidders wanting the car all Barryboy'ed up so ultimately
I see the target audience being the worst of the Activa buyers - the heinous Puggerisers who'd like
this scrapped for the low mileage engine - unless of course the reserve is £2.5k.

The fact it's sat on the IoW with the overhead of the ferry against it's start bid should put you £100
up from the start though Dean?

of course yes, its never going to go for over £600 and like you say with a dead turbo............
i will wait, get the rover sold and do the kitchen, if its still about in a few weeks (and i think it will be) then i can think again, rear ram bush is dead too by the way, but Jim makes them doesnt he?

Jim's the man to talk to about rear ram bushes although reading his latest blog
earlier sorting these could be a long way down his list of to-do's now. It's simply
a turned down to diameter solid nylon/composite ring.

I do very highly rate the Activa - it really does work though the penalty is a more
complex suspension set up with expensive failure rams unless you DIY following
Jim's advice plus these aren't exactly the most frugal Cit - one of mine is great
yet another lower mileage one is hideous on fuel... work that one out! :?

Dean, you've explored the Activa superstickies in the FCF area for roadtest articles,
Jim's buyer's guide etc? When it's working that is!

I guess the bodykit could be carefully removed and ebayed at vast value to offset
soem of the purchase price as I'm sure there'll be plenty out there that do want to
Barryboy their Xantia...

Really. Which half!?

I'm not a killjoy but have had training in aerodynamics and I just don't understand why folk believe
grafting the lower half of a Ferrari 348 onto a saloon car will suddenly make it perform like one.
Spoilers are frankly ridiculous until you get to speeds high enough to actually start counting the
downforce to deliver extra grip/handling - great and totally critical for RedBull/Mclaren etc, but
not Sainsburys/PC World/M25...

some folk need a reality check and have a close look a Lotus7/Ariel Atom and try counting the
spoilers and skirts.

Big wheels, smart paint and better lights are one thing but I cannot help alternating between pissing
myself laughing and boiling my blood when seeing this kind of thing:
