Classic Insurance
I'm sure this will have been on the forum before, but can't see anything --so ------ anyone got their XM on a classic policy yet ? I think last time I investigated, they were too new. If so, who with and how much ?
Mike.

Re: Classic Insurance
I got some pretty cheap quotes on 'confused.com' or at least I did before my wifes altercation with a bus shelter and mine with another car

Re: Classic Insurance
You will easily put an XM on classic insurance but I opted not to, because it will mean limited mileage, no business use and no NCB accrual. I just setup a fleet policy to cover three cars and attract full NCB on all of them.

Re: Classic Insurance
the advantage with classic car insurance though is that you get an agreed valuation of the car and you can specify to have your car rebuilt in case of an accident effectivly meaning it cant be writen off, unless you drive through a crusher obviously.
My dad pays about £250 a year on his stag for both of us with euro breakdown cover and no mileage cap, he uses his at work a fair bit in the summer, i will speak to him later and find out who its with although adrian flux rings a bell.
I know last time i looked into it there was a mileage cap though.

Re: Classic Insurance
My last two XMs have been on classic policies. The cut off point seemed to be 15 years or older, the conditions were limited mileage, no claim bonus isn't accrued and it must be a second car. In return for these limitations the price was the same as I would get with 6/7 years no claims discount.
I found the policies through moneysupermarket.com.
I didn't bother taking the agreed valuation up.

Re: Classic Insurance
That is the case with any insurance policy if it wasn't your fault. My BX was driven into while outside my house. Luckily the driver of the offending 4x4 owned up. To cut a long story short, his insurers wanted to write it off, but I went and got an estimate for the repair (which exceeded the value of the car in their minds) and supplied replacement door/mirror etc. insisting they return it to the state it was before the accident. They couldn't say no.Dean wrote:the advantage with classic car insurance though is that you get an agreed valuation of the car and you can specify to have your car rebuilt in case of an accident effectivly meaning it cant be writen off, unless you drive through a crusher obviously.

True. As a 3rd party claimant the sky is the limit.Citroenesque wrote:
