As Bob said it is the little plates onn the end of the arm that have rusted away, the arm is all in one piece, it's not a mayjor problem, the roof shuts as it should, and i can still tilt it !! , honsetly Phil, don't feel guilty at all, these are all minor litlle gripes that i expect, the manifold is going to be the biggest job,, i will have another go at some point, but iv'e got used to it and it only does it for a few minutes on start up then it's gone, so i an't gunna get it done before Little Horwood !!

Thans for the advice Bob , il'l look at making some up , i should imagine that they are like rocking horse teeth to find, it's just rusted on that end

Hi.

I didn't really know what was wrong with mine till I saw two of the small plate's for sale on Ebay. I had cut one of my arms off as it was getting jammed up in the window so I didn't buy any in case I had ruined it all but the plates are easy to make and fit, I have a drawing of one, it is 10 X 25mm with a 4mm hole drilled 8mm from the rear end of the thin plate. The tongue of the plate that holds the spring in place is cut down to 4mm and is bent down to hold the spring in place.

Did you say you saw some advertised on ebay, ?? if not what thikness of metal are the plates ? that you managed to make ?

Hi,

Mine are just 1mm thick stainless steel which is tough enough, Don't lose the tiny screw as they will be hard to find! There is no real strain on the end plates, they just hold the end of the sprung arm down in place.
