V6 features
Hi, I wondered what the external differentiating features of a V6 might be on an S2 car. The Exclusive 2.0CT I had briefly had 24v alloys, (I think!) so I know there'll be an alloy style that could help, although as that fact points out: it isn't guaranteed.
So if I saw a, say 1995 S2 Exclusive, (with the 'Exclusive' badges on the wings) how would I tell what engine it had? Is it exhaust tail pipes (does the V6 have two or twin?).... or is it something more subtle?

Hi Phil,
You have hit the nail on the head, the V6's only distinguishing feature is the twin tailpipes. Otwherise they look like any other Exclusive specced car. Everything is the same.
On series 1 cars they were badged on the wings, and has body coloured bumpers and mirrors and specific alloys for a time.

Ahh, thanks.
I don't know what's wrong with me but although my 2.0CT is fantastic I would like a V6 24v one day....

You're not the only one Phil!
They're nice, more refined and quicker than the TCT, and similar fuel consumption. I drove one once, and it impressed me. At the time I was driving my 2.0 8V, and the extra 70 horses were noticed

Re: V6 features
I'm not so sure the s2 v6 has twin tailpipes even; certainly my s1 v6's don't.
In fact, my s1 24v has had it's wing badges removed sometime in it's past and looks identical
outwardly to my boggo spec 2.0i to the untrained eye but to the Xm fan's the colour coding
will give clues albeit hidden by the dark blue-grey bodywork. The only real giveaways are
sometimes it's wheels or the wheelspin!
The ultimate Q car then being invisible but astoundingly fast...

Hi Phil
Trust very little about XM's that you cannot pin down to the original Citroen spec for that year.
People add badges, swap wheels , shuffle seats and trim etc.
Then when they put up for sale they describe as they think the car is.
Early and late Mk2 V6's are very different cars.
Early type are the same engine and box as the earlier Mk1 V6 auto.
An enthusiast might be happier with the Mk1 version of these unless they can get hold of a Mk1 V6-24v.
Later type Mk2 V6's have the new 24V engine and 4HP20 boxes.
These are a very different beast.
There were no UK manual box versions of either type of Mk2 V6 which is a real pity.
A couple of days ago I was very tempted by the blown late type V6-24v engine currently on offer on ebay standing at £29.
I have a matching manual box and toyed with the idea of putting them in a 2.5TD exclusive body shell.

Re: V6 features
As far as early and Late Mk.2 goes - The PRV 90 deg V6 engine lived all through S1 cars and into S2 cars up to 1997 around Late M to P reg cars, then the PSA v6 60 deg 24v engine came along, the same time it was introduced into the Xantia S1....
As far as exhausts go, the PRV 90 deg V6 NEVER had twin tail pipes, S1 or S2, nor did the 24v V6 Series One PRV - The ultimate wolf in sheeps clothes!!!
Only the PSA V6 60 Deg 24v from 1997 had the twin tail pipes, but the exclusive trim was the same externally what ever engine was fitted... V6 and Petrols had the same rev counter, IE: 8k rev counter, the V6 24v PSA unit had an oil level guage under the rev counter...so I think in later cars its harder to tell the difference...
