Does anyone have one of these

Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

Does anyone have one of these

Post by Ken Newbold » Thu Sep 09, 2010 3:41 pm

I'm sure you'll all know what it is, but if you're lucky enough not to, I'll explain.

Yesterday evening at 4.40pm in the centre of Barnsley I heard and felt that sickening bang as my clutch pedal hit the floor
I managed to get the car home to find this part of the clutch cable had gotten fed up and gave up. Looking at it, it's obviously been on it's way out for some time as two of the cracks are fresh and two are dirty.
Luckily my spare cable was the right one and about an hour later it was fitted and the car up and running again. What worries me is that the one I've fitted also had some wear in it.
So I wondered if you've had a cable snap on yours, did you keep this part, as my cables are fine and I'd like to make a good cable out of two bad ones. :)

You can see where that has been fractured for some time on the outer part.

Is the clutch particularly heavy? Having fitted a new clutch and taken care to clean all the bearings, etc, mine is now so light the over-centre spring holds it down for a fraction of a second when fully depressed.

If there's enough interest I could make up a batch of these in either aluminium or stainless - should last forever ;)

Anyone interested ?

Hi all, I think I have a cable from a BE3 equiped car in the loft to work from but obviously don't know if it's the same as the later ME5 type cables . can anyone confirm or send me a sample of the later type quadrant for comparison ? I shouldn't think it will be different but with being Citroen one never knows...

As soon as confirmed orders reach the 10 off mark I'll get programming and tooled up so can any serious members please confirm either here or by pm and I'll get cracking ;)

Cheers, Colin.P

I can send you this one as a sample if you like :) One thing to point though, it has a needle roller bearing down the made pivot, but I suppose a brass bush or something would be almost as good. :?
