) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

It went in to be MOTed in March 2010 and also had new front discs and pads, new rear suspension cylinder,
new front drop links and all spheres have been replaced with new ones. Bill for this was £1023! It has only
covered a few hundred miles since the MOT as I now have a replacement daily car.

That XM is owned by a chap called 'Ed Friend' and he's definitely an enthusiast...we bought his black CX GTi Auto from him.

The blue car looked well at the CX rally, that is definatrely the way to buy a XM, one that has all the hard and expensive work done, and for a fraction of what that cost. Surely good value at that. If it was mine, I would try and source some black leather door cards to finish the interior off, or get a good suede alcantara interior if such a thing exists any more.

Hello
I asked about the oil cooler
"Hello You mentioned the oil cooler was changed. Was it leaking? Was a new one fitted or a secondhand one? many thanks Jonathan
A: Hi, I changed the oil cooler when i replaced the radiators as it had to come out anyway. It was a brand new part. Regards Ray"
News to me that it has to come out to change the radiators. I thought new ones were hard to come by (and costly).

strikes me that that car's had a lot of money spent on it, must be worth the maiden bid surely.

Yes, it probably is worth a few hundred, for spares, but a few of the bidders are clearly interested in the "repair" aspect, such as the one voicing concerns about the leaking water pump. I can't help thinking that the seller is being economical with information, as is his right? He didn't answer the question I asked about the oil cooler (leaking or not) and he has already said in his earlier feedback that there was oil in the water. If someone forks out for the car as an easy repair job, and the headgasket is knackered.....
But for spares, yes, the radiators and oil cooler alone are worth quite a lot.

Do you really think so? It's really at banger money and not far from the scrap return.
£300 is still cheap for a lot of car even where I say myself that I just paid £350 for the one
I've got. So is anyone bidding to break this then!? Not that I'd want to see it scrapped but...
Mine needs a straighter (better) offside rear door, nearside front wing and a nice front bumper
to make it presentably good/hold it's own with the likes of that other £900 blue ebay one. It
wasn't exactly a sale by my pal that he wanted to make but he needed any money and the
car had no legality and was even being threatened to be weighed in as scrap £ was off the scale
at the time and I couldn't bear to see it meeting that fate so a price was reached that was
believed fair by both parties.
This one seems to be quite a good proposition for a competent DIY'er Xm fan as a going
concern and seems to tick a lot of boxes especially now it's not showing the £750 buy it now
but a far keener £300. There cannot be that many opportunities to get hold of a black
2.5 Exclusive!!
Is there a way of getting hold of a combustion gas tester for the cooling system or is this
only applicable with petrols? As has been recently discussed, I'm green where diesels are
concerned far preferring petrol varieties of our favourite car!!

it does apply to diesel, but due to less Co2 in the gas the colour change is to green, not yellow.
I have a block tester kit and compression tester, but am over 200 miles from this car.
