Hi Rich,

Pity about the accident, any pictures of the carnage? I hope the Micra suffered an equal fate.

you'll have to wait until it's recovered midweek before i can take pics.
all i can tell you is that after a 40mph broadside from an XM there were 2 fire engine crew attending what was left of the nissan micra . how the old lady driving it managed to get out alive amazes me .
there was a little of her blood on XM bonnet . Hopefully the rain will have washed away any sign of it by now

Fortunately for the xm population, not many of us here are in a position to crash test an Xm, so you're
the unfortunate trailblazer here. Did the airbag go off, and if so did it crack the screen - just curious
not because I want the screen?

Is it not worth hanging on to the remains until it's replacement is found as you'll be kicking yourself
if you part with the leather interior say, where a replacement XM is a VSX with none? That is of course,
if you decide another is the answer but seeing this car did you well, surely another will fit the bill.

I do know someone who would be most interested in the saloon leather - is it s2? Any piccies/price?

airbag went off & Missus has the bruises to match.
The windscreen is undamaged.
I did post piccies of the saloon leather when i first picked the car up.
It seems the price i was asking was way over the top so any reasonable offer will be accepted

pics here. The car got delivered back to local garage today but the keys I handed over to the police at the scene managed to get lost at some stage of the recovery. Still hoping to get the second plipper back from somewhere.
surprisingly the car starts up fine and despite the bend in the rad it isn't leaking any coolant!
I haven't visited the car yet to see what bits have been collected off the road but it looks like the coveted headlamp washers have had it ....

What do the insurers say Richard? I thought that if the damage caused was solely the other drivers fault that any damage to yours woud have to be covered and although it all looks serious I bet a lot of it is repairable with new wings, bonnet and front end stuff. As long as the engine and chassis are okay of course.

There's a distinctly clear kink/step in the wings (both inner/outer) so it'd suggest the chassis has borne the impact energy
well but this means the car is almost certainly a write off as you'd never want to trust it should it be unfortunate to
sustain a similar accident in the future.

If wheels are in line okay and there is no damage to the sub frame or engine and the rad is still okay, (Except for the bend!) I would think the chassis would be okay, but the Insurers inspector would have the last say there. I had a serious crash with a Mk1 XM Saloon. slid on a corner covered with diesel, I near climbed a tree and the damage was all superficial and was fully repaired within a week.
