Re: The daddy mk2 24v
It's THE car to press the right buttons isn't it!
In theory, (accepting the admittedly ambiguous mileage) with just over 40k, it should make an easy £3k
but then WMH will likely be bidding £4k just so they can wash it and advertise it for 8k...

Re: The daddy mk2 24v
So. Any guesses on the reserve, accepting it's 50% less than a price paid for it last year!!?
£2k? £2.5 or more...
IF Tony or Derek were selling theirs, surely you'd expect to hear values North of these figures!

My car is R142 HKV and is ex Citroen UK, suggesting this one R271 HKV has a similar history!

Re: The daddy mk2 24v
Lets be clear guys --- there are only two reasons you fit a new speedo. 1. Original broken. 2. Embarrassingly high mileage. Surely such a pristine vehicle should have a sheaf of paperwork to confirm the base vehicle mileage. Strikes me reading the description that there is no mention at all of the base mileage (which you wouldn't have 'lost' were it genuinely low) and there is absolutley no proof or warranty of the mileage of the replacemnt power unit.
I'm not disputing it's probably a nice and quite scarce car, but for me the complete lack of provenance would completely rule out mega pennies.
Mike.

I totally agree; a car like this if taken on face value from the description should have some background to it'sonthecut wrote:the complete lack of provenance would completely rule out mega pennies.
servicing/MOT's etc. It can't just land on ebay with no history, it's not that type of car and certainly not one that's
apparently covered under 40k miles - there's hardly enough miles to generate a whole lot of service history
to get lost!! Big bucks would only make sense if you're prepared to take a trip to the north of Bristol.
As I mentioned earlier, I have dealt with the seller and he has(had?) a whole host of Citroens and in fact referred
to this one but I never saw it but got the impression it was "his baby" and he was a really decent fella. I'm totally
happy with the V6 auto I bought of him with no gripes and I found him really easy to deal with.
The only factor that could explain this is where the car has been owned by the Garage Specialist guy who never
planned to sell the car and didn't keep a paperchase of every widget grommet and screw that's been fettled on it.

Re: The daddy mk2 24v
Agree. The current high bid of £2,000 is a lot of money for a 12 year old Citroen with zero provenance, a non-verifiable mileage (see below) and tax that runs out 90 days from now.
Note today that the questions/answers have been updated:
Q: What mileage had the car done before the speedo was changed? Rgds
A: Hi many thanks for your interest. From memory, I am sure I was told that the mileage was just under 100,000, but I never saw it like this as the car's speedometer hade been replaced already. However the car looks as if it has covered a very low mileage and must have been looked after extremely well. All mechanical items have been sorted at huge expense.
Oof! 100,000 miles and it just looks as if it's less? Who on earth is driving the price up? I'd not part with £900 for it, as lovely and as genuine as the seller claims it is.

Re: The daddy mk2 24v
Hi
As I think I said in the first place - it's what's not said that is the interesting bit!
OK so the car has done 140K in total but was the engine/gearbox new when it was replaced 40k ago. Yet more detail would be required before I parted with any money for the car.
At best I think that the seller has been a bit "economical" with the truth not mentioning the previous mileage.
I wonder who is now sitting on the highest bid wondering whether they have paid too much.
Finally - how much did he pay for the car when he bought it! £3500
Cheers
Tony
