I'll have to break my green'un!

Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

I'll have to break my green'un!

Post by ash2020 » Sun Oct 03, 2010 6:36 pm

I've decided that I'll have to break my spare green 2.5 estate. The head gasket's gone but as I haven't got anywhere undercover to work and as I'll have to start paying for storage from the end of Oct. it appears to be the only way. Is there anything that anyone wants before I start putting pieces on ebay? The struts are in bad condition.
2 leather front seats are available plus 4 alloy wheels with good tyres. (2 wheels are good, 2 are peeling a bit.

Hi Andrew,

I was just saying to Campbell in Cheltenham this afternoon that I really need to find a good green
front bumper and nosecone and if it's good a nearside mirror - that'll pay me to drive through hedges...

Are these good on yours? I could possibly call in to see you next weekend.

What style alloys are they - wobbly web or flatter 24v ones?

I think nosecone is fine, and bumper. I wanted to keep washers. Nearside mirror OK. I need the offside though.

I think control panel is OK but I'll charge the battery up and check it. Your name's on it if it is OK.

Rightho Andrew - dibs on the bumper and nodsecone (sans washers) if possible.
I only managed to break the nearside mirror on a damned big tree that I only
narrowly missed.

What's the story about the alloy's pattern? And are the tyres much cop!?

Andrew, did you ever sort out that door you wanted to swap and which one was it if the other
three are still OK - I cannot remember which one has a dent on my estate - think it's my NSR.
I could very well be up for that one as well. I must sound like a terrible vulture but anything
to improve mine and spare good parts being weighed in!!

If you didn't get sorted, now a deadline approaches, guess I could call over and help do the door
swap with you?

Mind, Mere is lower down from the M4 corridor than I thought so not 'just a little bit further from
Swindon way'!

Still, when opportunities come knocking...

I'm very interested in the parts mentioned as I need to straighten the disasterzone
that is my 2.1 TD (whispers so Peter won't hear) s2 green MANUAL estate...

Andrew, I'll take a photo of the wheels tomorrow and post it. I think the tyres are v. good but I will just check.
I'd better also check if I can find someone to take the carcass away without wheels!
Regarding the doors, I did try and take mine off with an 8mm spanner but the roll pin wouldn't budge. If you do come over I would very much appreciate a hand. I seem to remember that the other 3 are fine. (I want the rear O/S).
More tomorrow.
