Re: Robert's Turbo SD Estate
What really sad pictures Robert.
All you can do is take comfort in the fact that yout passenger and yourself fared as 'well' as it appears to have done
although it can't be nice incurring injury to them, even a scratch is unwelcome - hope they get sorted asap. Although
it mustn't feel like it at the time the car is always a secondary consideration.
You can thank your guardian angels and luck you're both OK(ish) but also fate I guess, as you could've been driving your
beloved 1990 one! A sacrificial Xantia is my winter transport for these eventualities - I recall my CX GTi Turbo2 moving
sideways 6 feet totally out of control momentarily and before I could fully comprehend the situation it caught a patch
of sunlit tarmac and was on it's way again but it could have been far worse. Luck of the draw sometimes.
With a risk of sounding mercenary, it seems the only decent panel left on the car is the OSF wing - don't fancy selling it!!
(there isn't a vulture smiley is there?).;
It's particularly galling for me that I have my nice s2 VSX manual estate that is likely to be weighed in imminently. If
you'd been interested and on this side of the water I'd have offered to trailer it to you as a replacement.

Re: Robert's Turbo SD Estate
We were both lucky to get off so lightly. And I was lucky I was driving the most disposible car I had. The Xantia Activa would be second on the list after that Estate. I was tempted to take the 2000 XM with me instead of the estate; before it goes to its new home. My passenger would have been better off with the side airbags if they worked.
I was thinking that I might have to get a Xantia for winter duties in the future. But I have just bought a XM Prestige which will arrive tomorrow. More details and pics as soon as I get them. Otherwise I may have been interested in one of your collection. But you don't really stock autos though .

I was also thinking at least I can save that wing. But it got damaged when the fire service pushed the drivers door back to aid their removal. Also, the front wings on this car were my spray painting test bed before the smash, so paint finish leaves a lot to be desired...With a risk of sounding mercenary, it seems the only decent panel left on the car is the OSF wing - don't fancy selling it!!

Why did the fire service cut the doors of the off-side, surely they opened ok.

Re: Robert's Turbo SD Estate
I believe its standard practice now, you as the occupants are not allowed to move and the fire and rescue must remove the roof and door to give access for the paramedics to safely extract the patients.......................they cant get sued then

Re: Robert's Turbo SD Estate
Hi Folks,
Bit of an update, I have started to pull some bits off this car (long live the school closures). The doors in this car do not have side impact bars. This surprised me, but then the passengers door wouldn't have been so badly damaged if it did have side impact bars.

Re: Robert's Turbo SD Estate
ummmmmmmmmmmm, so is that a write off then?!
Crikey Bob, that's a bit of a smash you had there. Thank goodness you and your mate are ok, it could of been so much worse. It's only a lump of metal (a nice lump, granted).
Glad you're ok Rob, how many lives do you have left now?!
