Re: Ebay 2.5 Estate- time to crack out the MIG
Hi Steve/John,thanks for info.i haven't plucked up the courage to experiment with mixed fuels on my 2.1 EPIC and was considering a trial but Dman's note on the construction of the pump has warned me off.
Nearly all wvo websites advise against using on Lucas pumps and also advocate modified injectors and a 2 tank system.
So more thinking.

Saw that earlier and for a moment thought a mythical s2 diesel estate had just turned up under
PeterN's normal "patch" when he's at the far end of the Country. The cream leather and 24v alloys
gave me Deja-vu and then I clocked it was that 2.5 again.
So what on earth did the engine look destined to fit I wonder!?

Re: Ebay 2.5 Estate- time to crack out the MIG
There is something odd going on with ggregory's car sales. The cars keep reappearing for sale by different sellers very soon after being sold.
Why would someone buy a car for an engine and then find it's not quite the engine they were looking for. Just how many different 2.5 litre turbodiesels were fitted to XM's???
It looks a lot cleaner now though.

After the purchase price of £497.50 (to Ebay buyer, 'lorraine4159' of Bath/Avon) but the new listing with a BIN price tag of £550 is by E-Bayer 'maryjenny2009' (Also of Bath/Avon) but still is not a bad price for a 2.5 lump complete with the rest of the car and have noted TWO pending offers already !Dieselman wrote:.........................

Maybe a TD5 DISCO or even a Ford Transit MOTOR-HOME ?andmcit wrote:................................

But, both the /\ maybe not suitable to use the XM's engine and gearbox as a unit (Being transverse/FWD) and therefore too complicated/costly to adapt for use in the existing vehicles gearbox !

Re: Ebay 2.5 Estate- time to crack out the MIG
I have come across a couple of people now who buy 2.5 XM's for the engine as a replacement to fit into a blown 2.5 Relay or Boxer van.
They like the idea of the extra poke and fail to notice that a DK5 engine does not fit where the DJ5 comes out from.

Hi All
See GGregory now has another unusual XM on ebay.
Red 95 V6 Auto estate with cream leather trim. Item 250728411656.
Thought that I would post here as a continuation to link up with the previous sales history.

Re: Ebay 2.5 Estate- time to crack out the MIG
Old thread, I know, but my advice is steer well clear of bio fuels. No proof, but I'm pretty certain a couple of years use of commercial bio is what completely saw off my 2.5 pump. Only one (out of Bosch, Lucas, CAV and Berger, used on differing engines) that I've ever had die completely and coiuncidentally, the only one I've used bio in. Also, depressingly frequent and absolutely essential filter changes and many more fuel pipe weeps and leaks than I've ever seen before. As Peter points out, the cost of rectification completely offset any savings made on fuel cost.
