By labarynth thing I guess you mean the fuel heater.
Well known for going porus.
Many diesel XM's have had that heater bypassed.

Good tip on the primer bulb. The tank strainer is clear.

Yes, the fuel heater. I know the ones on the back of the block on the BX went porous, but I didn't know the labrynth ones on the head did to. Intersting this as I was priming the bulb before starting to eliminate my supposed fuel drain back problem. The resistance of the primer bulb never seemed to increase, thus leading me to think it was draining back as fast as I could pump it up
