Battlescar - now scrapping 2.1 TD Mk 2 Auto

Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

The lock and plip set offered last year has since been broken up and bits used elsewhere.
So nothing is now available.

Actually, I DO have the plip, but it doesn't work - but I think I know why. Charlie put a new battery in it (I can't remember if it worked or not but I'll ask him). Anyway, by the time I came to take it over last year the (plip) battery had gone flat. For some reason I came to the conclusion that one of the little micro switches was permanently shorting out (hence flat battery). So, if you're handy with a soldering iron, the micro switch is readily available from Maplins and *may* be the fix you need, but I couldn't honestly say if it would work or not. If you want to give it a try, you'll need to find a plip 'body' as there isn't one.

Righty ho, KP has decided to leave Battlescar, which means she's still available. I'm open to offers. Is she's not taken in a couple of weeks then she'll have to be torn apart. I can't keep any parts so what isn't wanted by the end of April will be lost forever

Neil,

Do you want to have one last attempt at saving this car?

I can let you borrow a valve block to stick onto the auto box to see if it will help matters.

If you're interested, let me know.

Hi Robert,
That's kind of you, but I have too much else to do and personal situations dictate that the XM is the very last of priorities right now and that i haven't the space to store for a longer term project. I need a knight in shining armour!! (well, not me personally you understand!)

Can't help with taking the whole car (no way of shifting it back to Devon), but if it does get broken, can I put dibs on the driveshafts (assuming they are the same as a Mk1 2.1SED) if the car doesn't have to be rolling when you break it.

Could also do with a dipstick for the engine,

Hi

Just to say, all Auto driveshafts are the same, the only difference is the Abs reluctor rings need to be the same and there is two types for bendix i know of and maybe more for Teves.
If your dipstick has crumbled like they do it may be worth getting one from the dealer, i paid about £10 for mine i think so not a bad price.

all Auto driveshafts are the same
Not quite Dean, the drive shafts on the s1 2.1 were solid, and the ones on the s2 2.1 are hollow. The solid shaft has 27 splines going into the CV joint and the hollow one has 39 splines.

I found out the hard way when I bought a new CV joint for my S2 2.1!

boyse7en, do you need the whole shafts? I have a new CV joint that may be suitable for you if you're interested?
