Re: CCC National next weekend!!
Actualy with you doing 45mpg and him doing 30mpg he paid £30 more than you to cover 500 miles taking into account the fact derv is more expensive than petrol.
A tiny price to pay for the power imo

I was basing it on Red-Dwarfers and Normans posts. The price differential is fairly small at the moment.Dean wrote:Actualy with you doing 45mpg and him doing 30mpg he paid £30 more than you to cover 500 miles taking into account the fact derv is more expensive than petrol.

Re: CCC National next weekend!!
I pay 133.9p for petrol and 136.9 for diesel I think, not a huge difference.
The TCT seems a pretty hardy engine, it will be a long time before mine reaches the mileage where it would be getting tired.
I don't mind its fuel usage, its not my every day car. The 2.1 seems gutless when stepping out of the slightly tweaked Activa.

Yes me too, with that very nice 2.1TD auto estateDieselman wrote:Good-oh, Norman. I've only just realised who you are...normantilbury wrote:i got 48.9 Up and 47.5 down 100 miles each way

Thats rather an unfair comparison, when an Activa is 150bhp PLUS and the XM is 110bhp

Re: CCC National next weekend!!
As is the comparison of fuel consumption, i must admit the 2.1 is a very nice lump but after living with the tct long term i find it the same, it just has more power and more of a rev range, still drive it at 1200rpm in 5th all over the place and its as smooth as silk so i dont mind the low 20's i get out of it around town, certanly wouldnt bother with a derv for the sake of the £10 or £15 a week saving it would net me.citroenxm wrote:citroenmad wrote: The 2.1 seems gutless when stepping out of the slightly tweaked Activa.

Well that COMPLETELY depends how many miles a week you do!Dean wrote: certanly wouldnt bother with a derv for the sake of the £10 or £15 a week saving it would net me.

I am dooing 300 - 400 miles a week including weeknds, so a car that does around 30mpg compared to 44mpg means a MASSIVE amount to me at least. I simply cannot afford the difference - to me its the miles per litre thats more important..

Re: CCC National next weekend!!
My other car is bigger and heavier than an Activa, comes with an auto box and will out drag it both on acceleration and top speed and still returns an average 37+ mpg. It can do 40+mpg with a little restraint.
Tell me again why petrol is better?

Re: CCC National next weekend!!
Its only better when its fueling a PRV 12 or 24v engine!!!
Otherwise for 4 cylinder engines its DERV.. Im staggered by Sarahs little Clio 1.2 16v. Its a 5 speed, but at 80mph the engine is screeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaming its head off at 4000 rpm!!
In the Xantia 4000rpm would be giving me around 100mph!!!
