Despite recent other events, that have sadend me lately, Im ok.. the thing with off topic is when important info comes out of it, it then gets lost...

No Jim, you wont be banned, I dont fancy being left on my own here... my info is often wrong so being corrected by someone else is a good thing.

In my view "off topic" can often add far more value to posts that it detracts.
I also feel that moderators spending their valuable time editing and sorting posts adds very little to the end result.
Our system here where we have lots of moderators who intervene only with critical items is a bit unusual compared to most sites.
It has one main aim only.
Someone authorised to kill spam attacks and ban the poster is likely to log on within minutes rather than days.
That protects the sites content and integity in a way that is a real benifit to us all.
I agree with Paul that searching for posted information can be a pain but I still find much the same on heavily edited and moderated sites.
So there has to be a better way and when I get a bit of spare time I will have a stab at it.

I dont particually waste any time looking through posts... but I locked the "For Sale" thread for my own upset, and didn't and dont want reminding of it, thats all..

I just get concerened about finding information when they are lost in a completely unrelated topic, like this one is now..

I understand your issue, it's not the fact of what's happened, it's when you have given above and beyond to help someone and they appear to not appreciate it.
For what had been done top it, you sold the car cheap to keep it ont he road and another XM owner going.
Perhaps think of how you would feel if it had been crashed instead...it would be easier to deal with as it would just be gone then, as it is now.
