Apparently 1 of only 18 XMs in the US currently for sale on eBay:

Those side running lights are totally vile - let's hope they're just double sided tape tacked on.
Nice looking car - planning on moving out to the States then TE - this little runaround'd probably
use less fuel than the indigenous varieties too!

...and, like noted in another thread, one can notice in these photos the altered front mask desing -in this one, I think I can see the part between the headlights actually protrudes a bit-.
Weird they went to the pain of producing this, I wonder if they thought the original version lacks "presence" in comparison to what they r used in the US?

$5,600 and still got nearly 7 days to go...it's only the UK undervalues Citroens.

IIRC it didn't sell/reach it's reserve (link now gone,to old), I wonder if THIS is the same one as I do remember it was a one owner vehicle and the mileage was around the same as this one !Dieselman wrote:$5,600 and still got nearly 7 days to go...it's only the UK undervalues Citroens.
Hi Andrew,
Work it out for your self, from the beautiful comprehensive Photo shots in the link also note the keypad code cover broke/missing and the different way the front seats belts operate !andmcit wrote:Those side running lights are totally vile - let's hope they're just double sided tape tacked on......

I came across all this when reading thro' this ARTICLE. also don't forget to read the comment's below in that link
(Andrew maybe another site/forum to air your view's on ? or even post a comment to it and put a link to this forum)

Some of the comment's and some with interesting link's within them :-

I’m the nutcase who submitted the XM to this august publication. When visiting the UK I’ve seen many of these in daily use, and they are genuinely wild-looking as a Citroen should be. There and in Europe they are just old used cars at this point, and your average EU resident would look at the $14K price on this car and fall over backward with laughter. But here in the US, where a fully-legal 23K-mile XM is about a hundred times as exclusive as any Lamborghini, the price becomes quite reasonable.
CXA Automotive has been around a long time and has a good track record of importing, certifying, and supporting post-DS Citroens. They were even featured in the PBS show Motorweek some time back.
@Walden W: No, they do need to be modified to be legal. I couldn’t give you a full list of items needing to be done, but it’s long and that’s why there aren’t many here. But it’s not impossible, and that’s why CXA and I think some others over the years have been able to bring in a few CX and XM models and sell them as 50-state-legal cars.
Nice CX Diesel Wagon For:- $9,500.00 (Note the U.S. Gallon = 3.785 litres/0.833 British gallon) !Bob Waldman wrote:January 1, 2010 at 1:44 pm
Here’s a CX that I bought last month on ebay, it’s an 81 diesel wagon.

$9500 would be really high in Europe but for what this car offers in the US the price seems pretty reasonable. So far the car has been reliable, super comfortable, 32mpg, and you can’t beat the seating capacity. I’ve hooked up with a good Citroen mechanic/expert here in Portland, Oregon and so far (fingers crossed) this is a great car to use daily.
Hi Jorgy,
I think this may answer/explain that from the same link:-jorgy wrote:...and, like noted in another thread, one can notice in these photos the altered front mask design -in this one, I think I can see the part between the headlights actually protrudes a bit-.

As Andrew B, has pointed out and with the Photo links. The XM is a very close match to the Pontiac but if you take a closer look the ones fitted to the XM, they have a more rounded corner on the inner/lower area of the lamp units when compared !Andrew B wrote:January 2, 2010 at 12:55 pm
While I like both of these, I have to agree with Chris in Vancity about the CX. The plastic bumper cars lost a lot of their ‘Citroënness’ and I’d also choose Bob’s ‘81 CX wagon over the silver car for several reasons including a manual transmission, superior usability and retention of that period Gallic flavouor.. Well bought.
Also, the ‘92 XM has late 80’s/early 90’s Pontiac Grand Prix headlamps and not the original ‘complex surface’ units fitted in Europe, which was the route CXA took when federalizing them here to retain the original front end aerodynamics. Euro headlamps don’t use aiming lugs which this XM has – you can see they’re the same pieces comparing these 2 shots:

Pontiac Grand Prix SE – http://liquidationcentre.net/images/Pon ... -Front.JPG
Happy New Year to all
It was also probably not worth Citroen manufacturing a special U.S. compliant ones for the XM due to the very low import/demand !

So if anyone is emigrating to the USA get the XM bought quick before some else doe's

Also a very nice CX and a SM more photo's of the SAME SM - Enjoy

XMX

An XM if for life, (Not just for Christmas) !

Or wait till yours is 25 years old, and then export it to the states with you! as 25 yearold imports to the states are exepmt from complying with US regs. unfortunatly with the BMW mini's sucesses over there this has resulted in an industry in ringing minis for export. Take a look on ebay.com for 'classic minis' and try finding one that is not a late 90's car claiming to be over 25 years old!

Re: eBay US: XM S1
that explains why the Minis are so expensive then - they did export them to the States - one of the lead characters in CHiPs had a Mini.
