My mate says they're held in with nearly 2 Inches thick of sealer!

He thought that it was holding the whole car together with the amount on there!
A good couple of tubes of bonding needed then!

As I remember from that XM design book with the great pictures the bonded glass is part of the structural integrity of the built XM.

A little quarter-light structural, ye gads. What am I getting myself into with these XMs?
You'll be telling me the exhaust system is structural next...
In view of this revelation, hope you don't go and find the car all crumpled and folded up like an old crisp packet then Franklin....

All bonded glass is structural. Glass has a much higher torsional rigidity than steel.
