Oh God. So when is the CCC public stoning then Robert?
Shall I just slash my wrists and get it over with now then?
What public stoning is that?

I hope you don't feel that's happening on here.

Not at all. I'm trying to look at the CCC site but it won't let me in

It often does that to me... Claims I'm logged in but I'm not...

Finally got to the CCC thread and ummmm... If I were Andrew I'd not be smiling right now... Lots of moans and groans about lots of classic cars going to waste and so on and so forth. Usual CCC stuff. Comments made without knowing the back story.. Suggestions of OCD. I'm an OCD sufferer and I'd be most upset if a stranger made a comment about it in such a context. Happily my OCD has some positive effects rather than anything too negative, but still, it's not a nice accusation to have made about you.

Evening Andrew,

I would think (like some other people) that on the face of this when I first saw the pictures I was like wow :o look at those, what a shame, but as mentioned we don't know people's positions and people jumped the gun so to speak.

I was wondering when you would stumble across this so called 'find' and on reflection I would be absolutely fuming if this happened to us. Luckily our barns that we rent are the Atcost style so have sliding, and more importantly, lockable doors so no prying eyes can get in. Funnily enough one of our barns is on and old farmyard and if we found out that the landlord has readily let someone in there'd be some seriously strong words. If it was me I'd certainly not take pictures as from personal previous experience people can, and have reacted very differently. Not giving out too many details, but when dad was at someone he knew and they had an Aston Martin (old one) under a cover in a garage. He took a snap just to show me when he got home, and the chap physically made him delete it and watched too to make sure it was deleted. At the end of the day it's people's privacy, and it should be respected.

Please don't just go weigh them (the CXs, Gs etc) in Andrew, if it get's to that stage then don't hesitate to contact us (although we're up to 12 CXs now and restoring about 4 ATM!). I know you don't want to sell any of the CX Turbos, but please bare it in mind...

Just to clear a few things - FWIW:

The 'other' barn is a secure locked Atcost type and that's where a lot of kit walked!!
Not the farmer's place pictured in Autoshite. I now know how this happened and who/why
but can't prove it.

In the past year, I have 'lost' 7 cars and my car transporter trailer (some very painfully missed)
from OTHER locations, most definitely due to pikeys weighing in anything not bolted and
chained down.

In many circumstances, the cars in question here were even bound for the scrapper and I
bought them in a tide of enthusiasm and they were allowed to live on (however right/wrong
that may be deemed to be), in some cases being fixed and used. I tend to flit from one car
to another and because I have the space, lay the unused one up. I run 8 cars at any one time
and there's never one month that matches the previous one!

There are 26 cars in the barn pictured in the Autoshite thread. Not all of them are basket
cases although in truth some should have gone years ago such as the Rover SD1 (my father's),
a 1983 CX Gti and a snapped chassis 2CV. Goddammit - I'm guilty in some cases of keeping
them purely for sentimental reasons where they should've gone years ago.

So what? Do I accept the insulting offers from 'enthusiasts' and watch someone else scrap them?

I gave up on the CCC after being a keen member for years as I found some attitudes about
all manner of things questionable years back and TBH don't care what's being said there.

Good for you.

As far as the cars go, earlier you said they are a bit of a liability. Why not have a sort through and decide which ones really aren't worth keeping and either strip and scrap or shove them on ebay for someone else to restore?
That means you reduce your hassles and get a bit of cash out of it. You may then enjoy the rest of the fleet more as it will be easier to manage.

Just my 2p.

Good advice that close friends and family have been telling me for years.
It's taken it's time but has finally sunk in and I have (in some cases beyond
my control) allowed a trim down or 'rationalisation' to begin. This whole
'mess' just illustrates the state my mind has gotten into in recent times.
Time will tell, especially as my head has been turned upside down by a
rather fabulous lass who even likes old french cars; maybe it's the cars
she's after, not me?
