How did you get on yesterday? I was busy stripping and had a nasty bug as well.

Oddly enough that cars sister car, but in silver and auto, paid a brief visit to collect parts. It has nearly 200k miles on, virtually no rust and immaculate strut tops. That's the 2nd M reg S2 car I've seen with perfect strut tops, what are they like on this car?

That's a coincidence the sister car turning up, how do you know this though?
I'm back down in Surrey, leaving Chris up to his arms and knees in mud which the car's engine bay seems to be full of! I helped him all day yesterday to try and find out where the front LHM leak was coming from, with the car running you can see a heavy leak coming from a pipe that runs parallel under the radiator, the leak being near the NS corner. We decided to take the radiator, which looks to be in a poor state, out, undid top hose, clear looking antifreeze came out no rust in it which was good, really struggled to get the bottom hose off as the clip was positioned at an inaccessible angle so decided to drop the nose to get easier access.
The sills seem to be pretty solid and rust free along with the rest of the underbody, the spare wheel holder has rusted away though. We reversed the car onto some ramps then jacked up the sill at the jacking point at the front in order to slide a trolley jack underneath and the sill showed no sign of caving. Jacked up the front and the car is now held up by two axle stands at the front, ramps on rear wheels plus an additional axle stand under the towbar so is pretty secure.
When trying to lower the nose we found all the bolts, especially the ones under the wheel arch rusted to buggery. We gave up after it got dark. I did get an email from Chris today to say that he'd managed to get the bolts off but had to snap them all as they were all rusted away, apparently he has the nose down now, no idea where he's up to now.

There were two LHM leaks, the rear one we traced to behind the NS rear wheel, the fourth pipe away from the wheel has a pinprick hole in it (no idea how that happened) and was spraying fluid out at a high rate. The one at the front is coming from a pipe under the rad as mentioned.

The car DOES have ABS so not sure if your S1 pipes will be compatible? I think Chris is going to need a lot of help and advice to get this car in running order, I'm a bit far away so you might be his new best friend!

Ha ha.. LOL, no problem if Chris needs advice and maybe some help, though I am a bit pushed for time generally.

When I said sister car, I meant another M plated SX 2.1-TD, though it has some differences, it's auto but no ABS.

On the pipes, the good news is I have them all off the car intact, the bad news is they go all the way to the front without any joints and one has some surface rust.

Chris has removed the front bumper and nose completely and says he has traced the leak to the ABS unit.

He's also having some trouble posting messages to the forum, he's joined under the username of InsidiousXM but even though he's validated his email it won't allow him to post messages, any ideas? Is there a mod around?

There was no problem with the matrix that i remeber, but there was a kenlow engine preheater fitted at some time.

Do you still need toe tool or would you consider selling it?
