S1 24V interior

Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

Hi Marc,

The estate back seat rest won't fit a hatchback. The bottom part will.

It's quite possible a German car would have manual seats, even with the top line engine.

For the wiper linkage spray the spindles and all joints with oil then turn the wipers on and get a crowbar down to the pivot link and prise it over using the inner scuttle metal as a lever point. After a few persuasions the wipers will be free as a bird.

Both my recent purchasers had completely seized wipers, but this fixed them both in quick order.

As far as the brakes go, I recently drove a 2.5 estate and was a bit shocked by the lack of response of the brakes compared to my S1 cars.

Hi Mark

The seat wiring loom comes from one of the two plugs on the central tunnel under the radio.
Virtually all XM's use the same connectors here and have all the options wired to this connector.
Might be worth asking if some one scrapping a Mk1 has the front seat loom with electric seat connectors available.
Robert is right about the back seats.
Your estate black leather ones will be split and be about 30mm wider than the locking points in your car.
Not easy to adjust. You will also need the wider car side squabs to match as estates have narrow ones.
I need to look but may well have a spare set of car leather back seats.
I have more estates than cars so would be willing to do a swap.
In good order there should be no difference in the brakes between V6's and early 2.5's as the components used are the same.
Seem to remember FCF talk about modifying the brake pedal, fixed tube instead of spring to make the brake feel more positive.
Anyone know if this applies to XM's

John

This is a common mod on Xantias.

I haven't tried it on the Xm yet, but my series 1 estate has very very sharp brakes, no pedal travel at all, much like CX and BX brakes.

I adjusted the adjustable bar pushing on the doseur to give a bit of travel (as this non-abs car would lock up very easily). Still the brakes are razor sharp like CX and BX.

Thanks Gents. I'll investigate wiring when I replace centre console next weekend. Am inclined to have a go at getting electric front seats in it.

John, would be pleased to swap rear seats if you have.

Cheers

Shane did the mod to remove the springing from the pedal actuator. He compressed the spring and drilled the plastic and inserted a couple of roll pins, or similar.

Robert, I've also noticed my XM with no ABS has very sharp brakes, the one with ABS less so.

I've just chucked a complete S1 interior, however I might still have the wiring harnesses. I do have the complete harness, but need to see if I can find the seat harness amongst it.

robert_e_smart wrote:The interior stuff will be the same. Same seats and door cards, same centre console. As long as his car has a dash and carpets, then the rest of the stuff is common between RHD and LHD. The only difference with the seats will be that if Marc gets a UK interior, he won't have the raise/lower function on his "new" drivers seat, as it will be on his passengers seat.
I may be looking at this..as I have a spare drivers seat, with a view to fitting the raise to the passenger side of my car!

However I do know where there is a complete black leather S1 rear bench for an S1 XM, all 4 parts of it
