Malcolm Lockwood supplies cunifer pipe and fittings for cars. I got some from him earlier this year for re-piping a CX GTi Turbo.

I tried this last night on 6.35mm steel pipe and it had no problems making a flare. The flare is a bit sharper than a standard Citroen flare but should retain the seal no problem. I suspect the flare could be adjusted by reducing impact force.robert_e_smart wrote:Excellent, I look forward to hearing how you get on with it and how it works.
The die is new and very tight to part but even after a few uses is loosening slightly.
I also found the die was excellent for straightening bent pipe without any crushing.
Sorry no piccies yet, I will do some or a video.

Re: 4.5mm pipe tool
Ebay item 250939735437 appears to be offered by a reseller of Bond Eng tools.
Gives a picture of the tool type and the dies.
Seems to be very similar to the "Sealey" type standard impact pipe flare tools.
It might be worth asking Bond for a price for bulk supply of 3.5 & 4.5 flare nuts.

I don't agree with you as the E-BAY one is not of the hand held type i.e. suitable for on vehicle / in situ repair like the 'Bond Type' (See Demo below for the E-Bay one) !

I rang 'Bond Engineering' yesterday but obviously have broken up for the festive holidays, take a look at THIS from their website, I think you'll agree with me

Re: 4.5mm pipe tool
Looking at the Bond product list and the ebay tool (250939735437) that John mentioned (FTC03 CIT) it is a cam action, vice mounted job which looks similar in operating pricipal to the Automec and others. Also Bond's list says that it does all three pipe sizes, 3.5, 5.5 and 6.35mm. Tool FTC02 CIT appears to be the same less the 6.35mm die and FTC05 CIT has even more dies ie 3.5, 4.5, 6.35??mm plus 4.75mm SAE and 4.75mm DIN.
Bond also sell other tools for 3.5 and 6.35mm pipe (FTC01 CIT and FTC01CITS) but it's not clear whether these are the Pleiades hand held type or spare dies also no mention of an equivalent 4.5mm tool. Some pictures on their website would definitely help! Also it's not clear whether the tool that XMX's second link shows is available yet as it says 'coming soon' - however it does look like a Pleiades 'type' with handles added.

Re: 4.5mm pipe tool
Hi All
I tend to seperate the tools into screw action and impact or cam action ones.
Those that use impact or cam action need a much greater fixing, typically a vice to resist the lever action force.
This alone makes them much more difficult to operate insitu on a car.
The Automec is screw action like the Pliaedes.
It is a pity Automec have chosen to make the current version so big and bulky as it does not need to be.
