Series 1 Radio

Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

Series 1 Radio

Post by robert_e_smart » Thu Jan 26, 2012 2:03 pm

Chaps,

Does anyone have a series 1 radio surplus to requirements? An early grey clarion without code would be fine, or the later black one with Braille on the buttons with a code please.

Can purchase direct, or exchange for a series 2 radio with a code.

Thanks in advance.

I've got one in the loft. Came out of a G-reg 2.0 8v petrol.

Can't check whether it is braille one or not as access to loft is in daughter's bedroom, and its a bit late to be waking her up.
I'll try and remember to have a look at the weekend.

Not able to obtain the codes, but able to recode them to 1112.

I can't get codes for the Braile type series 1 radios from the forums, (along with Xantia series 2 radios). But have no problem getting codes for series 2 radios (and Xantia Series 1 radios).

How do you recode to 1112?

I may need an early type one as well depending on the findings of having a look at the ones I have.

For codes put a post on http://forum.eserviceinfo.com/

The e-service forum is excellent for free codes. I have had a very good success rate there.

I found out on this forum how to recode the early clarions. Basically you need to remove the solder jumpers on the chip that stores the code. That resets the code to 1112. I did this on the radio in my 1990 Turbo SD. When I get another one of these radios I will do a write up.

Are you looking for one for your Mandarin SD Will? I am bidding on the one on e-bay as well. If Boyse7en turns one up we could both have one each!

The one in my original car is fine, the one in the cobalt car seems to lose output one one or both channels after it warms up, though I'm hoping this is just poor connections in the wiring.
the one from the other mandarin car has the tape head misaligned, I think.

I should be able to get one running.

I won't be bidding on the ebay one.

Mine used to do that before it found a new home in the bin, you just have to give it a good whack and its fine for the rest of the drive ;)
