Many thanks Chris and Steve and I attach the updated register. I have assumed your 'K' plate is 1992 Steve? In response to Will's query, I think Paul still has a sd, sed and td! With regards, Matthew T.

Ahh early M actually 1994! My S2 TCT exclusive is a 1994 car

Speaking of which.. should we not also have an S2 register? whihc might be inetertsing as the production numbers say the S1/1.5 is more common, however I suspect a combination of early leccy faults etc will have decimated the numbers, although the S2 seems a lot more rust prone as the S2 certainly seem to be more common on eBay

As far as a register goes there are a lot more Series 2 cars then Series 1. There are 225 Series1 left on the roads in the UK out of 820 cars.
The big selling years for XM were 1995-1997.

I'm going to contradict you here Will, but a third of all XMs were produced in the first couple of years production, and the rest is history with the reliability scares.

I can't agree with you here Rob.

However the register is for cars available now and there are certainly a lot more series 2 than series 1 now.

Backs rob and myself up rather well actuially..

22,000 XMs sold in the UK.. of which 17167 were 89-93.. and that's ingnoring the change over year leaving less than 5000 S2 cars sold here from new so if the S2 is now maore common (and it does seem to be) then the S1 atrition rate has benn massive

I realised that the actual manufacture rate had been higher as Rob said, but the remaining cars are 75% series 2. A lot of S1 have gone because values were so low and then scrappage came along and scrap prices went up.
