1993 2.0 SI Auto - Hatchback 27,900 Miles For Sale (E-Bay)

Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

I'm pleased it's gone for half sensible money, I was slightly tempted just because of the mileage and condition. The petrol and Auto bit were a bit of an issue for me though.

How much do we think a 2.1td with only 27,900 miles would fetch? As Citroenmad says, considerably more.

Im betting a nice 2.1TD estate with 27K miles would sell for considerably more.

I agree though, the Si sold for a bargain price, a certain future classic - if it isn't now.
I wouldnt be so sure on that, the xm is starting to come out of banger terratory and so buyers are not really fussed about diesel or petrol on the whole, you only have to look at whm's prices to see there isnt much difference in fact at the moment petrols are more expensive.
V6's will really apeal to the enthusiast so i would say being a derv wouldnt have made a blind bit of difference but being a V6 it would of comanded a much higher price.

I can see the appeal of a late V6, they are very quiet and refined, but the early 2.0i doesn't fit that category.

It doesnt make any difference will, the best xm's ive seen have been i's, what about the black sei from cxm? he doesnt care its a 2l. Engine does not matter one bit unless its super rare like a 24v prv, condition and or mileage is king now.

Really depends what you want it for, I would certainly be prepared to pay more money for a td estate because I use mine and they are much cheaper to run. If you only want it for a show car then I agree it doesn't matter much what engine they have.

I understand you point, but as a driving car some are nicer or more practical.

That black 2.0i has had at least one full respray and loads of money spent on it, £8k iirc, which is lunacy for a 2.0i.

Its lunacy for any xm if you ask me Will but thats a show car and i guess thats what you have to pay to get it perfect. I will agree there is a lot more merrit to a completely original, stock car though.

Thats a poor excuse Peter, you have the HDI now for cheap transport, get rid of all those 2.1s cluttering up the place and treat yourself to a V6 Alfa  ;)

I am on both sides of the fence. I have collectors and users. I echo both comments, collectors pieces have to be something special for the owner, either a car they used to have, an engine they wouldn't normally use daily, or low mileage/exceptional condition cars.

Users have to be diesel for me. No real preference on estate or hatch, but a towbar is a must.

Taking on a rust bucket CX now as a working car must be one of the very worst options.
Keeping XM's as classic show cars and using them as working vehicles are very different propositions.
For a working car sorting XM (estate) body shells to clear rust problems must be far less a problem.
On price the odd XM that the buyer thinks has classic potential may be making a slightly better price.
It still has to have some exceptional feature(s) to get the buyers hand in their pockets.
The bulk of XM's particularly Mk2's are well rooted in old working car, worth scrap plus the current tax and MOT price range.
I do not think this will change until the numbers drop to around 500 total of on road and SORN.
My guess is sometime in the next 5 years at which point the supply of XM's will virtually dry up.
Feel sorry for the Xantia enthusiasts where the much greater volume imported will keep them at scrap prices for another 15 years.

John
