2.1 is too slow now! The lack of oomph and refinement is noticed once I hope into one after driving the 2.5.

2.1 manual with Bosch pump and fuelling adjusted a bit (ok a lot) will give similar performance to 2.5, though it'll really hurt the economy (like 30 odd MPG - Peter cover your ears  ), I ran one of mine like that for a while and it was fun but expensive.

Its quite fast enough for me - but then so are most cars :?

I have opened the pump up on the white one and its made quite a difference, if you put your foot down - but I don't so it hasn't affected the fuel consumption.

Oh yeah, the 2.1 manual on its own is fast enough for what it is, with plenty of torque for swift overtaking etc, I totally agree.

I know the 2.5 is a bit faster with smoother power delivery (due to those balance shafts maybe?), but the 2.1 tweaked is quick too, just at a cost.

Nice to see your white ones had the treatment, you don't have to put your foot down but its comforting to know the oomph is there if you need it :D

I don't know how you managed without yours for so long Roy, the withdrawal symptoms would have been too strong for me!

The 2.1 manual and auto are perfectly adequate, but there is a faster option out there with similar fuel consumption to the automatics!
