Re: S1 24V back on the road
Just phoned Citroen UK and they gave me FV600001991 for the engine number. She didn't inspire much confidence, computer says...!
Here's hoping for a simple H Reg No from DVLA.

Re: S1 24V back on the road
That seems a bit of a coincidence Marc if the year of the car is also 1991! The number suggested by John sounds more likely. Just out of interest what is the car RP number (on front left hand side door pillar) that will determine the day the car left the factory. The VIN number suggests that your car is later than mine and my RP is 5072. With regards, Matthew T.

Apply with the number given from Citroen.
Make a written record of that conversation and keep it with the copy of the application and the V5 when it comes.
If at a later date an actual check proves a different number then just apply to get the V5 amended as an engine change.

Marcs RP number is 5177 which gives 11 January 1991.MTXM wrote:That seems a bit of a coincidence Marc if the year of the car is also 1991! The number suggested by John sounds more likely. Re: S1 24V back on the road
My logic came from finding out that all 1991 V6-24v cars were numbered in the same VIN sequence.
I had previously assumed that RHD cars would have had a separate VIN block.
Took the difference between the VIN's and added it to the known engine number.
Hence the need to prove the logic with a third set of data.

I have log books for three cars and note that the early car engine number has no prefix, so suspect Matthews is similar.MTXM wrote: After checking my 1991 24v log book the engine number is 003447 (Vin ends 1238) if that is any use!
In build date order mine are
000660
DA49060042
DA43000154
I suspect he newer car had an older style engine as it has no EGR fitted, hence the lower engine type number. (DA43)
I suspect the prefix for the v6 is FV starting at 1 and running upwards, so a newer engine can have an apparently lower number.

Re: S1 24V back on the road
I know I'm hellish late with this...
Great news on the MOT pass! It's always a big sigh of relief to get that good news.
If it helps to prove the theory, here's the details of the 3 24v's I've got:
Chassis No: AL0859, Engine No: 002832 (1991, J Reg)
Chassis No: AL1063, Engine No: 003388 (1991, J Reg)
Chassis No: AL0805, Engine No: 002809 (1992, K Reg)
Interesting to note the 1992 K plate has a lower engine number then the two 1991 J plates... I can't however prove it's never been changed either I guess.
David.
