Wtd: XM Hydraulic Pipe
Hi, we have an XM 2.5TD with aircon and are after the main hydraulic pipe from the hydraulic pump (pipe nearest the pulley) to the pressure regulator.
If anyone can help or knows who could make a new one it would be much appreciated.

Hi, thanks for that, we have tried Pleiades but they said they didn`t think they could make the later type end - the one that fits in the pump.

Might be able to recover you a second hand one.
Need to be sure about the pipe threads.
Citroen changed the pipe flares/threads about 1997 for Xantia 6+2 pumps.
Never tracked down if this applies to XM's as well.
Scrapping a T reg 2.5 estate with a/c this month.
Working from the back with the front against a wall.
Wheels come off tonight.
So after that might take a bit time to get to the pipe.

According to Citroen Service the 2.5TD (with aircon) had a change in pipe design at RP 7610. I can't recall where I saw it but apparently the pipe flare design was changed from Citroen's own to an ISO type. Spares from Citroen appear to be no longer available (which you probably know already!)
The area where the pipe has failed has not been described, however if both pipe flares are serviceable then a possible repair would be to sleeve and braze in a new section of pipe.
What about trying a hydraulic specialist such as Pirtek?

As far as I can tell the flare and pipe thread pitch changed.
Citroen state that old and new type components are not interchangable.
In practice very difficult to tell visually between the types.
Both pipes and fittings have the same diameter.
Trying to fit missmatched unions will cause cross thread damage to union and component.
No longer willing to supply the secondhand pipe, risk too great.
Suggest that ken's repair suggestion is the safest option.

I personally feel the cheapest/quickest/safest way forward is to use a 'Swagelok' connector , I've actually got this type of repair on my Xantia (Which was done prior to my ownership) see below :-

Also see THIS thread/posting, for a previous forum members similar problem/dilemma
In the past when I've tried sourcing these fittings with local suppliers I got no joy, Also the main UK distributors weren't too helpful either !
So now I hear you 'Thinking' where the hell can I source one of these connectors
However your in luck on this occasion (Purely to timing) as I've found some on E-Bay !
If the split/rupture is just in one place (hopefully on a straight section), as in my example Xantia photo /\ .
As that has a 6.35mm = 1/4" dia. pipe it the same as your 2.5 TD feed-pipe, STRAIGHT-CONN. and if you need a bend ELBOW-CONN. (albeit only 90 deg.) , so for £6.20 (Straight) or £9.50 (Elbow) you could be back XM'ing again soon

Hi, thanks for all your help/suggestions, fingers crossed WHM have sent one in the post and we`ll be able to fit it tomorrow.
The pipe has rubbed through against another pipe bracket just as it goes under the oil filter housing.
