Wanted: S1 Speedo Upper Cable

Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

Good spot BUT that's the lower cable in the engine bay! IIRC, Chris wants the upper one in the dash?

No Andrew

It must be Not French Purchaser.
Apart from dealer odds and sods all remaining XM spares stock is now held in France.
I have been told that the dealers were instructed to dispose of the residual items to scrap.

Thanks for that, however it is the upper cable I need.

Nope, it is not available from Citroen, its the first place I tried. All other routes are drawing blanks too, I can't live without a speedo much longer!

I did enquire to speedycables, who could make on eup but they said they need to make a one piece cable instead of the two piece one it has. I would much prefer just to fit in a proper cable and so im getting desperate for one now.
Chris.

I don't understand Speedy cables response, you only need a one piece shorter cable with screw ferrule on one end and bayonet on the other. Do they think the two cables connect directly to each other, so you are after one of them being a female fitment?

FWIW I'll measure the exact length of the spare cable I have but I'm sure it'll be right
as its certainly longer than a LHD dash to the bulkhead!

A while back there was a series of posts about a plug in GPS speedo.
Think it projected onto the screen.
Cost was around £25 if I remember right.
Would something like that act as a temporary fix.
There was a version of the speedo drive box that had both mechanical and electrical drive outputs.
Anyone looked at retro fitting an electrical speedo head to a Mk1?

Hi

I used a company called speedographrichfield.com couple of months ago to make me a speedo cable for the LHD 24V. They did a very nice job, just a case of posting off the old cable so an exact copy could be made. Only downside was it cost £31 but that included p&p. Their email address is info@speedographrichfield.com

Cheers
