Off topic chat about anything you like. Doesn't have to be about XMs (though they will inevitibly come up!). You can even discuss non-Citroens :o in here!

I like group Citroen Pictures - modern-wise we had a C3, C4, C5 and C6 here the other day. Raining so no picture though...

I'm looking forward to following this ICE install Steve, as this is something that I plan to do to the Prestige at some point...

IMHO the XM has one of the best sounding systems I've experienced, in total contrast to the DS3, which is very weedy and any bass to the rears results in distortion, even at moderate sound levels. Citroen have obviously decided to cut costs and spec the DS3 with cheap speakers. If it wasn't a lease car, I would be upgrading the speakers with something more substantial.

I managed to get the towbar wiring entirely in the box section but had to remove the spiral wrap to do it.

After mounting a wooden backing board to the reinforcing on the wheel arch I could decide where to place the equipment so that the cabling could be routed. Here's the end result, not flash but tidy.

The speakers still need mounting and the battery connection made. The XM has an advantage when it comes to ICE installs, the interior volume of the car is large which helps with bass extension. The Prius has a JBL factory fit system which is OK but lacks depth, adding a Bazooka tube has improved it but because of the bespoke nature of it it's difficult to improve it greatly without replacing it all. The amplifier uses balanced inputs from the head unit, the sat nav links directly to the amplifier and the volume is controlled by the amp not the head unit.

The ICE install was finished and tested. The Maxxbass processor worked brilliantly with the front components adding depth but it was just too noisy. I can't understand why the developers/manufacturers spend all that time and money to develop such a complex algorithm that works so well only to implement it so poorly. The amount of noise on start up and between music was intollerable, it had to go and it has. Maybe I'll try my hand at a nice bandpass enclosure for the Focal sub next.

The idea of a bandpass enclosure has been scrapped, I'm going for a folded horn design that uses just a 8" driver.
