Hi all,
After the accident in my 2.5, with Johns (XMexclusive) kind help with the supply of parts, I eventually put the car back together. Painted wing, underpan and nosecone (unfortunately not a brilliant match but OK) the steering rack replacement was a real bitch! Car has been taking me reliably, economically and comfortably to work and back (60 miles return), for the past 3 months and now ----Sprung a leak from from the over-rear-subframe next to fuel tank area. Have investigated and found all pipes corroded and one that loops onto height corrector has split. What to do? Looks like I need to splice in some lengths of pipe so will need connectors, nuts, seals and of course a flaring tool The only tools have seen are on e-bay at £150!! Can any one supply me with the parts and either sell me or possibly loan or hire me a flaring tool?

Hi, Yes, it would be at least the 3.5mm tool, one is leaking and the others don't look good. The 4.5 mm pipe isn't leaking, but while I'm there , it would probably be prudent to splice a new length into this pipe as well.

PM me with the pipe lengths you need and I will see if I can make them up in good secondhand pipe.
I have plenty of recovered pipe as the long runs under scrap cars tend to be rust free.
I also have some recovered joiners so could sort out enough for your needs.
Hopefully I could get those to you in the next couple of days.
The biggest problem I have found with rear subframe pipes is getting the existing nuts undone without damaging more.
I would avoid wholesale replacement if you can.
My current flaring tool is not ideal to use insitu nor am I keen on lending it out.
If the made up pipes are right and fit then you will just be left with 3 or 4 accessible flares on the existing under car pipes.
We should be able to sort out a suitable time for me to bring the flaring tool over to make those.

I would concur with the nut problem, I had to weld a nut over the existing one and hold the 'T' piece in a pair of molegrips, it gave in eventually.

Thanks for the offers, have removed the rear part of the pipe OK, however as yet I have not discovered where the front end starts from and how to access it. It looks like it would be quite easy to cut and swage the existing pipe. It has now snapped at the split. So the pipe is actually hanging down from under the car with bags of access. So John, when I have time, I will try to remove the complete pipe, but I don't hold out much hope. So ideally, the loan of a suitable tool would be ideal. However I do appreciate your concerns. Give me some more time to investigate and I may yet take you up on the offer.
