The engine is going so well, good for at least another million miles and nobody, nobody, nobody wants her. Accidently it occured to me to use it as a winter car and leave the nicest XM out of the bad weather. So that's it, I am gonna keep it :) so now Russ can dream of an old series I. All good now:)

They're OK if you treat them right Russ ;)

What Xantia were you thinking of having?
Sorry Jaap, I'm sure yours is a really good one, but to answer Jims question, I would like a mk1 VSX. Mind you a V6 would be rather nice too.
For the future...not in the position to get another car just yet. I see XM bills on the horizon!!
More to the point though, does an XM get it's nose out of joint if a Xantia comes along and joins the fleet?

All part of the fun Russ  With an Activa you’re never short of a bit of interest and most importantly they are a wonderful drive - unique like no other :D I love mine to bits... To drive one is to be convinced but one thing you might be surprised about is how firm they are in the suspension department. Soft mode is like an XM's hard and Activa hard feels like you have a full set of flat corner spheres...
captainhaddock wrote:Activa's don't sink, do they? And they're not slow enough :) :)
No, they don't sink like a proper sinker but they do sink just a bit and to add interest they can also lean

One party trick they can do if they have ruptured accumulators (they have two) is a slow dance. Rise up, lean over , drop down, correct lean, rise up, lean, drop and so on until you replace the accumulators. The rise and lean will be found to correspond to a regulator tick.

Very entertaining and rather confusing when you find replacing the main accumulator doesn't cure it and then discovering another hiding under the battery tray...

Russ, if you fancy a V6 one day it's likely mine may be on offer at some point in the future. It's going on SORN at the end of the month due to financial reasons involving daughters and universities...

I must admit, I'm dying to have a go in an Activa. It's like the 24V mk1 XM. I have no idea what they are like, but I'm so intrigued to see what the fuss is about. I bet they are infectious, and i'll want one!

Well you never know Jim, I might eventually be in the position to think about a V6.....couldn't think of a better one to buy mind you.

True but the fixes for all of it is well-known now so no problem...

You're welcome Russ to park and store your Activa over here so I can take a spin in it (again and again!?) :) You're aware that Xantia's have terrible seats, I take it? I'd love to swap them for CX's or XM's.

The best seats found in a Xantia are those found in an Activa!

The genuine S1 Activa leathers - unique to the Activa - are absolutely the best Xantia seats bar none but closely followed by the standard Active cloth seats; they are seriously good.

The other day I drove all three of my cars to see which would be SORN'd at the end of the month and it was all based on how comfy I could be.

The XM obviously came out top but the Activa was right up there with it. The V6 with it's MK2 seats are in a different and very inferior league. In fact for the last few long journeys in the V6 I'd been desperately trying to find a seat setting that was comfy and failed each time.

So, it is the V6 that lost and is being SORN'd.
