If you mean the pump cradle then they're the same for Lucas and Bosch. When changing pumps you need to move the flange studs to the alternate holes in the cradle.
There's a woodruff key between the pump driveshaft and sprocket. They are different between Lucas and Bosch, as are the sprockets themselves I believe.
Also - Bosch and Lucas injectors and injector pipes are NOT interchangeable; different opening pressures on the former and a different firing order on the latter..

Nope and Nope, you wont need to move any wood ruf key, and NO you can use the exsisting pump back plate... when you remove your exsisting pump you will see in the back plate a secondry drilling next to all three pump dowls.. move all three dowls to the new positions, the Bosch pump runs more advanced then the lucas, and the moveing of the dowls to mount the pump deals with this!
IVe also been here before with a BX.. once you get your pump off you will see what I mean..

Ahh, but it's good because you've explained WHY the studs need to be moved to their alternate holes in the cradle

As far as pullys went, I cant recall now, but I thought I fitted the Lucas Pump to the Bosch pully with no issues... However, if you got the pully too, then that will need fitting to be perfectly sure, which will mean belt off...

Well don't stop it Paul because it's better to over-explain than under-explain every time

Having problems here! Could do with some advice.
When I bought the car it was running. But after it was switched off I couldn't get it going again and the battery died. I had the AA relay it to my brother's house. Finally got around to trying to start it this weekend and can't get the bugger going.
The diaphragm on the fuel filter housing looked like it'd gone porous as diesel was coming out of the top so I changed it over for a new one, no different. I checked all glow plugs, 1 was dead and looks like it has corroded in place, tried to unscrew it out but seems stuck fast so didn't push it in case I sheared it off, the other 3 glows are working. Thought it could be the relay so I bypassed it by putting a live wire from the battery to the glow plug bridging wire. Still wouldn't start. I removed the plunger from the stop solenoid, still wouldn't start. Decided to tow it round the block to see if that would bump start it....nothing! I can't see any evidence of an immobiliser but if there was wouldn't removing the plunger from the stop solenoid bypass an immobiliser anyway?
I'm stuck here...any advice? It's the 1.7 XUD with Lucas fuel pump.

Where are you. have you got the car up here in north Wales??
first port of call if it is then me...
i can come across if it is in abergele sometime this week..
the other thing ti do is remove the intercooler.. two 10mm bolts at the front and three 6mm Allen bolts and with a 17mm spanner crack one of the injector pipes at the injector .. spin the engine and it should spurt fuel out... if there's no fuel then take the fuel stop solinoid out and remove the black plunges and spring... then try but give her pleanty of spins.. the fuel could also of drained back if a return pipe has a split in it..
she's fully mechanical so if there's fuel and air she should go.. unless the belt has given up..
even a broken belt can still make it sound ok spinning over.. i hope dearly its not. but we can still fix it..
