Yeah, car is at my brother's in Denbigh now. The plunger was removed from the stop solenoid the other day but didn't help. I've got some easy start so plan to spray a bit in the air intake to see if it starts the engine then go from there. Watch this space, may well take up your offer. I will still be needing some injectors to go with the new Bosch pump if you have any spare.

If you have tried without the stop solinoid, then theres nothing stopping the fuel.. in this case it sounds light bad news Im afraid..

She should be going. The roatry pumps are very strong and other then the stop solinoids, dont really stop pumping at all...

Try and get the front cam belt cover off the engine, the belt should be nice and tight, any signs off slack or looseness then its STOP time....

Yes, Ill no doubt have a set of injectors, have you got the Pump to Injectors feed pipes?

It could be as simple as an air leak though. remove teh stop solenoid and turn the engine over. There should be a good gush of fuel if the fuel delivery side is all Ok.

This has been Done Will, I am beginning to think is a bit more serious..

Removal of the stop solinoid would soon shift any air leak.. At least it will confirm if an Injector Pipe is cracked open if theres fuel getting to the injectors, which there cant be. A mechanical DERV as you should no, if theres fuel and air will go!

Reading Endorfin's post, he said the plunger was removed from the stop solenoid, not the actual solenoid being removed, unless I'm reading it incorrectly.

The reason I said remove the whole solenoid is to check the lift pump is drawing fuel, not air, or not turning. I know you would have already thought of these things. :)

If he removes the whole body, he will see fuel spill out readily, or not as the case may be.

Good news, it's not the cambelt.

The primer bulb that I put on with the replacement fuel filter housing was sucking in air, so much that it took me a good 10 mins to pump fuel through it! No wonder when I tried to tow start in the dark it wouldn't start, my fault for assuming it was primed and ready.

New bulb and primed it, cracked injectors and cranked til fuel was coming through, warmed up glows and it fired up right away. It does seem to hunt a bit though.

There's a steady drip of diesel coming out from under the injection pump so don't know if a seal is leaking. It seems to drive pretty well for a for a car that has done 270k.

Suspension rises and lowers nicely however back end drops pretty quickly once engine is switched off leaving the nose in the air?

I've run out of time on this trip got to head back down to Surrey but leaving the car here at my brother's in Denbigh. I've got a Bosch pump and injector pipes, still need some injectors if you have any spare. Feel free to go over to have a look at it if you're passing by, my brother is almost always in.

A common thing on higher mileage bx.. rear ends internal leak backs plus internal wear on the doser valve.. to be honest i wouldn't even worry about it at all my 72k mile bx did it years ago. part of the character in my opinion. as long as she rises.. keeps it all working anyway.. not that the bx has the awfull xantia height corrector setup anyway..

yes will be able to sort a set of injectors defenatley ..

let me know too if you want a cam belt and water pump.. assuming we don't know when it was last done...
