I think it depends when and where, when I was bringing my first C5 home, in spite of what the gauge said it ran out of fuel on the M5 at Exeter, the AA arrived in seven minutes with a recovery vehicle - the have a depot in Exeter of course and I think the fact that I had run out of hard shoulder and was partly on the carriageway had something to do with it.

Since I passed the 50 years of membership mark I'm getting all sorts of freebes. I must admit though that over the years their service has been pretty good, I have had a few long waits and grueling recovery journeys but also some very quick ones. The only complaint I have is that they don't salute me when they pass with their motorbikes and sidecars any more.
