Yea, well, we ALL know that Euro cars didn't have them! Bloody stupid. Who on earth thought to put a sunroof in for a country that has RAIN for 99.8% of the year! Damm right bloody stupid!

I'm sure this'll provoke Andmcit into a response Paul

Umm, well yes, basically they are a PITA of the highest order but against that I like them for the extra light they admit to the car which appears to make it more airy and spacious...

I have two with and one without and I can fairly say they are only ever rarely opened - only to check they still work and clear their drains...

For me a fixed sunroof would be just lovely and I believe some moderns do indeed offer such a device...

Paul, I reckon those of us unlucky enough to be stuck in the east of England tend to get a few more days of sun than perhaps you do in your idyllic location.

But point taken ;)

In fact I'd happily swap less sun for your living location any day...

As an aside, sunroofs to my experience don't get much use in very hot countries either. Having lived in such places I can tell you that sunburn is a severe risk with an open one and generally with aircon you don't want a big hole in the roof anyway...

And also, an open sunroof in some parts of the world can let undesirable wildlife in and I know from potentially painful experience...

In this far land actually when I had an AX I was bombing down the M1 with sunroof cracked open when a wasp decides it would much prefer the interior of an AX rather than the great outdoors...

I had to stop on the hard shoulder and demonstrate to it the sheer folly of its actions. Only time ever I've had to stop on a motorway hard shoulder and all because of a wasp

I'm terrified of wasps, absolutely petrified of them. I'm also allergic (badly) to their stings. I love bees though...

thats the other point I forgot... Open a sunroof on a hot day and WOOOO HOOOO Its EVEN HOTTER!! Bloody stupid.. You do not want to be hot and sticky in a car on a RARE day like that!

I know what you mean about wasps.. they can sting to their hearts contenet.. where a bee can not and can only do it once in extream danger, Im happy with a big bumble buzzing around happily.. but NO not wasps. A lot of people are illergeic to the sting..

I'm going to defend the sunroof here! I like them! I used mine all the time. The added air being drawn through the cabin was great. Only when it rained heavily did I close my sunroof.

oh yeah, the sunroof was great even in December. Used it all the time, summer in Portsmouth! Also very handy when furrie dog inside car, guarding our possessions.
But: on topic - throw me in a cabrio, some old Merc maybe. Or some old Italian preferably Alpha Romeo....

I bought my first CX because of the supremely refined diesel engine for the time, I didn't appreciate the other Citroen features until I started driving it. I still reckon that PSA make the best diesels.
