Ive had a little to do with a C5... but the car wanted EVERYTHING changing, and again, its only happened to me.. The car finished us for life. It was an 03 HDi 8v 110 Exclusive. EVERYTHING except the Brilliant 8v HDi engine went wrong! the car was even passed the everything due to be changed milage too!

But, from Citroenmads comments, I seem to have found the only one to have been like that. Anyway, damaged me for life. If it were my car, I would never have got any work done! Would of been too busy fixing the darm s*H*i*t*e thing!

In the end, and this is the AMAZING BIT!, he gave it to his daugther, and went and bought Vince's Xantia off him, through me... Ive not heard much from him in the last 6 months!!! AMAZING!

I try to do the same Jim, either with a fault that I have personally experienced or one that can be logically worked out - but I still get it wrong sometimes

I think I have been very lucky with mine Paul, the 2.2 is a beautiful car - apart from the fuel consumption, it has a surperb ride, no rattles or warning lights, except the air bag since I fitted the leather seats, but they are coming out to go into the red one, I had to do a few jobs but the only really taxing one was the battery going flat due to the ECU coming on by itself, I got invaluable info about that from FCF.

The red one is not nearly as nice to drive but its improving as I am fitting new spheres, just have the rear ones to go on now, but it is much better on fuel and easier to drive in traffic being lower geared. Its off the road at the moment though until a fit an HP diesel pump, its been getting more and more difficult to start, changed the sensor to no avail. I am just hoping that when I have fitted the pump it will still go :?

Peter!!

Starting wont be the pump as a whole.. Which Sensor have you changed?? You can change the pressure regulator on its own. Check the pump is letting fuel out... Undo the single pipe to the rail, and turn the engine over.. DONT WORRY.. It wont spray at high pressure every where. Just a good flow will come out.... If theres fuel theres theres TWO other sensors... The next likely will be the crank sensor on top of the gearbox... and the cam sensor be the cam pully left of the oil filler.

Have you changed the Fuel Rail Pressure sensor??? Its the one that sits in the under side of the rail?? They cause starting issues!!

Dont worry, the rail self seals when you unscrew the sensor.. Had this on a Xantia... when it did start it hunted for a moment or two. Swapped the rail sensor.. was perfect! No Pump was needed...

C5's are very capable cars. Comfy, accommodating, good spec. with ours only minor things have gone wrong. Had the dreaded anti pollution thing, but it seems okay at the mo. Only thing which needs doing is a tyre pressure sensor had gone a wall after hitting a really nasty ridge on the M5.
Plus people with advanced breast cancer and dodgy bones, aka my Mum, meant she could still drive and be driven in comfort right up till she died. whoops, got a bit serious then! but seriously it has been a god send for us. if it was German, it WOULD have been sold.

On that note, Happy New Year everyone! I hope 2013 is better for you Paul. sorry you have had a difficult Christmas.
