Re: If you didn't have a Citroen?
We made the 205 as well didn't we??
For a short time demand was so high, 309 production was shifted ALL to france, so 205 production could be met. This was also shown in the quality of 309 cars during this time. It was better in cars in france then UK ones...
WANT becuase its one of the earlest I MUCH prefer the Series 1 205 dash though.

And those bonnets are in great demand by the GTi lads....citroenxm wrote:Carb Only.. So to make room for the carb and air cleaner the centre of the bonnet was lifted.
I may well be wrong Paul but I' have a feeling the later autos were injection but they kept the distinctive bulge...
The good old 4HP14 married to an XU5 engine...citroenxm wrote: Still with a 4 speed box.. A very nice car! Even Id love one of those!
One of my nephews still has an auto. Been off the road for yonks and is little more than scrap now. I'm sure it's an injection though... LU2 Jetronic like the 1.6 GTi...

Thought they were. As Coventry police cars were 405's. knew about the 306, 309 and 206, but wasn't sure about the 405.
Found another 205 gem Paul. I'll take a look!

Forgot, you need MUSCLES to drive a 205! Only cars from 1993/4 had PAS fitted as standard.. ALL Earlyer Derv 205s were manual steering!citroenxm wrote:We made the 205 as well didn't we??

Re: If you didn't have a Citroen?
Yes, I believe the Gentry was made at Ryton Paul but not sure which others were. I know all the GTis were made in Mulhouse in France...citroenxm wrote:We made the 205 as well didn't we??
And let us never forget that the 205 never began life as a Peugeot. It was in the late stages of design by Simca when they were bought up by PSA. Pug got the 205 as part of the spoils and explains why the early 205s used the Simca 'suitcase' engine...
