Agree, how do the Japanese drive I wonder..

On icy roads I still prefer my 2cv cause I can feel what's happening with the wheels on the road. She didn't start last week though...

I managed the first 30 years of my driving life without ABS and a good many other things now regarded as 'essential' and I'm still here.

Hi peter.. only base models in the xm.. That being an I for petrol or D for the diesels have dual zone heating.. so no this Sd has normal full blown heating and no air con
i can drive without Abs easily but having it for towing is a must really..
someone said ive my work cut out.. not really.. a good dry day would see the window winder at the rear done exhaust fitted drivers door card fitted and possibly a set of disks and pads at the front fitted.. oh and the rear light panel replaced...
just needs a bit of re commissioning .. a set of spheres be the most expensive..
Robert.. ill check at my local dealer and see what they say. ill have a look on service citroen too.
the quarter window is laminated too as it has shattered not cracked..

Not sure about what you mean with your question 'how the Japanese drive'. The country stretches across wide climatic zones. When in winter it is +15 degrees C in Okinawa it could be minus 15 in Hokkaido. Snowfall in eastern Japan is unbelievable to people in other areas. Children in Tokyo have rarely seen snow there until this year. For most people living and driving only in Pacific coast areas winter tires are not necessary, but as soon they drive a few kilometres beyond they are. Having lived in the same area for about 32 years now I've been fitting snow tires only the past 3 years now. Who says climates have not been changing?

You're right Paul, a good solid day of graft will soon see her up, running and sorted
I only feel the need for ABS very, very occasionally and usually to prevent me prematurely terminating the life of a cat. I could happily live without it on all of my cars. Maybe it reflects how and where I drive...
Another clue as to how I drive is the infrequency of brake pad replacement and tyre replacement due to perishing rather than outright wear...
I'm not fast.

If the rear quarter has just a small hole I would be inclined to areldite it for now.
For the inside need a small piece of hardboard with a screwhole in the middle.
Wrap the glass side of the hardboard with cling film.
Sleeve the screw with a length of plastic wiring sleeving.
Bit of wood thin side facing glass with a pair of shorter screws to space the wood off the glass.
Fit to the glass and areldite from the outside.
When set hard, remove temporary framework, fill centre hole.
