Silver Exclusive in Australia

Post by endorfin » Wed Jan 23, 2013 2:57 am

I'm in Australia at the moment, spotted this silver Exclusive in Punchbowl, a Sydney suburb. It was parked outside a Citroen dealers on the road, with the keys left in the ignition!

It must be a pretty rare sighting in the Oz and I would have been tempted to drive her away!! Regards, Matthew T.

That is cool. Love the fact Citroens are still sold over there. Must be a very nice neighbourhood for it not to have been nicked...or did the handbrake put the off?!

Russ, Aus is a great place and quite understood it was OK being left there unattended. I had the pleasure of living in Aus for a bit, in fact Robyn was born there, and I'd go back in a heartbeat. Loved the place to bits and the people. They really are the tops in my book...

We were right at the top end of the country - in Darwin. Sadly I can never recall seeing any Citroens there. My wheels were a Nissan I can no longer recall the model of now and a Holden Commodore Estate with a 3.7 litre V6 and the the first auto-adaptive autobox I knew. I found out exactly what the sport setting could do when we thought Robyn was on her way

 nice one Jim.

Must admit Oz does look like a great place to live. Very good quality of living over there...if expensive. They seem to have everything really sorted out. Unlike this country.

Citroen actually made DS's over there didn't they. TA's too maybe. Nice to see they still have the option to buy new Citroens. Bit different to your standard Holdens and fords, toyotas, Nissans ect.

I never knew citroens to be sold in Australia. As for the keys in the ignition: how about the 4 digit safety code :) Ign.keys are useless if you don't know it! :)

Oh gosh yes Jaap. Australia and New Zealand was a significant market for a good deal of what was built at the Slough factory. It was a natural market for Slough-built stuff as in those days both Aus and NZ were RHD and worked in miles so Briish-spec was fine.

It's good to see they're still going strong now. The FCF has a good few antipodean members and the C5 is quite popular and common there. They even how their own French car forum called AussieFrogs...

These days they still drive on the left as we do but measure distance and speed in metric units and have slightly different lighting requirements such as no need for rear fogs. Mis-reading a speedo got me a rather large speeding fine in Darwin

Russ, as far as I know they did indeed assemble in Aus from CKD (Completely Knocked Down) kits supplied from Slough and then latterly France.

I suppose you could argue, selling in aus and nz too, justifies still building in Rhd. We are a smaller market than LHD and without them to take RHD cars, we might not have citroen over here. Shudder at the thought!
