Paul, I reckon try John's suggested repair method with Araldite and cling film for now. I reckon you could then make a feature of it. It'll look very much like a bullet hole so you could say it came from the wild west (of Cumbria) and spin some tale of it being a survivor from some terrible gunfight ;)

Perhaps some more bullet holes somewhere else on the car would lend credence to the story. Years ago you could buy stick-on bullet holes... Not seen them in ages but in the early 70s they were all the rage...

I understand you could also buy stick-on scratches and someone I know had a huge giggle with the owner of a very expensive Porche; said owner didn't giggle much when he first saw it though...

Jim, the trick for fake scratches, is to get some duct tape, and rip out the fibre strands in long lengths, and as they are sticky, you can plaster a car with them. They look frighteningly realistic.

Don't they just Russ

I've been a 'victim' of the old duct tape trick and seeing as we were clearing rubbish past the XM at the time it could well have happened accidentally... I was well and truly fooled...

Here's what greeted me....

Had me going for ages, much to the mirth of the perpetrator...

You've been 'ad already!

Looks really nasty though doesn't it. Very realistic. Maybe only works on dark coloured cars for the best effect.

Will.. maybe maybe not... :D

made a start on the front brakes yesterday before i got rained off.. swapped the nearside pads to find amazingly that neither the callipers piston, slide bar nor hand brake lever were NOT seized in anyway.. if anything the parking brake cable is what's seized and causing a stiff foot brake.. besides its split in the usual place..

so well pleased with that..

but that's all to report for today..
