Xms are definitely female!
Glad to hear you are getting through the to do list. I have just remembered to remember about your FDV again!

Yup, still need an fdv, even just to borrow, soon. Need drivers door switch unit, fix heated rear window and ventilation adjust dial. Several bulbs still need to replace, think a ball joint or two and possibly track rod ends as the front end is loose and rattly at times.
Needs a pair of front tyres soon too (joy of getting centreless wheels balanced...)

You certainly have a car with character!
Mine does most of these things too. My ABS is in and out like a game Hokey Cokey! The headlights mist probably due to seals not sealing. Another job I need to do too.
It's all fun and games....
I thought my FDV was on it's way out, but it has calmed right down ...touch wood, it think it was trapped air in the system making a right old racket. simply turned the wheels lock to lock a few times and it seems much better. I think the cause was from doing the brakes.

Ohh yes, XMs are definitely girls
Just as Activas are.... No doubt about that at all... Very characterful girls too...

Not surprised it does strange things with hyperactive spheres. Try slightly less lively ones next time GraemeAerodynamica wrote: I fitted front and rear hyperactive spheres and front corner ones and the ride is better. The front does odd things though

Though I say the right hand display sprang to life, it still has no backlight so you can only really see it in good daylight. I think the dashboard lights job is going to include all of them including those that currently still work.
Abs light still staying off but note that it takes longer to go out.
Front height corrector is very slow to react. Looks to be one of the easier to remove types I've seen on any Citroen (the CX one was a right pain) but it uses a xantia-looking plastic link that always say "trouble when disturbed" to me. Can these still be got?
The LHM is going yellowish though not dirty but needs to be changed. Brakes bled too coz there's a delay on the back brakes.
New tyres and ball joints. The alternator belt is bad so hope to get that done on Wednesday.
I get the rear stop lamp warning at times and notice the indicator causes a slight dimming of the tail light so a clean up of the earths at least.

I saw your CX made the auto Shite Web site Ebay spotting topic Greame....
Dimming of the rear lights with indicators is something I dont think you'll fix on any Mk.1 XM.. if you notice with the lights on the dash lumination lights do it aswell..
Unless this again is just a me thing!

Yeh mine dims a teeny bit with the brake lights, also the battery charge light comes on ever so slightly. French electrics? I don't know - there has to be some fix for it! Surely it didn't do it when it was new! I'd hope....
CX was on autoshite! I've not been on there in yonks.
