Hi Chris
As I remember the C5 sphere sits directly forward of the strut head.
About 135 degrees different to the XM.
The C5 base also needs packing down about 30mm from the XM chassis.
The C5 base has only 3 fixing studs not the 4 on the XM.
It also has a different outer shape that would not fit too well under the XM chassis.
I was checking out using remote sphere location as well.
This was because with this setup even a green sphere on the C5 strut head would risk fouling the chassis.
It seem workable but quite a bit of a pain to engineer.
I could see all that costing around £200 plus a strut head.
Then the Kingas refurb came in at around half that price per strut head.
At the time Will was talking about getting new XM struthead bases manufactured.
So I assumed it easiest to use those with C5 centres and send to Kingas for remanufacture.
It seems the new bases have turned out uneconomic.
I think I have adequate 2.5 type heads for my XM's once my next batch has been refurbished.
Just out of interest I may still try the Kingas conversion using a pair of C5 heads and bases recovered from thin strut XM ones.

Re: Strut tops
I could get new base plates made, but there needs to be demand, which appears lacking.
