Now, one of the great moments in the first BBCtv series "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy", was Alec Guinness frequently driving a Rover P6. In one episode, he and a gin-soaked Beryl Read play almost the whole 60 minutes, in a small cottage in Nettlebed . . . a few miles north of Emmer Green and Caversham Park in Berkshire, near the Henley-Oxford road.
Some good P5 moments in Inspector George Gently, too - albeit with Mk.3 wheel- and side-trims on a Mk.1 car. (There's always someone...)

On the subject of Xm specific in film and tv then.. Nick Noltie drives a silver series two about France in a film The Good Theif .. The film well was rather crap but the xm is featured all through as its his main car..

I bought the film out of interest but wasn't impressed..

Quite a some time ago now, there was an ITV series with Rik Mayall. He had a dark green S2 estate in it.
There is a film..forget the name now, with Richard E Grant. again another dark green estate, but S1. Possibly at the time when the estate was new on the market. Good product placement ect....

Just this minute found it. All about George. ...2005 it aired.
It even has the XM in the opening title credits. All on YouTube.
