Xac hit the OFF Button again on FCF???

Off topic chat about anything you like. Doesn't have to be about XMs (though they will inevitibly come up!). You can even discuss non-Citroens :o in here!

I have suffered from this odd quirk too Jim. Though mostly when I first got the car, it hadn't been used for a while before then. In recent months it hasn't happened. Was the V6 similarly unused before you got it? Perhaps the mechanism gets lazy or stuck through lack of use.

Went to look at a brake judder problem on another XM V6 today. Found the disc warped after just 1500 miles and worst thing is they're not exactly common or cheap for the V6... Then the airbag light came on for no good reason...
Are they definitely warped. Disks virtually never warp, but suffer from friction material deposition or not being flush with the hub.
Dial gauge says they are Will..

I've had warped discs on a Xantia in the past and again they failed when they were comparatively new..
I HAVE back this up aswell... Ive had xantia disks warp WITH NO sticking calipers either to blame, the car started shuddering under breaking... result? Swap the disks, and yes, smooth as you can get.. So I agree about disks warping...

I reckon so Rohan.. I found the (for want of a better word) handle you operate to open the tailgate was getting stuck in the up position and not returning to the normal flat position of its own accord..

A bit of working and WD-40 sprayed into the mechanism seems to have done the trick now...

Brake disk warping myth.

http://www.stoptech.com/technical-suppo ... ther-myths

I have personally had brakes with severe grabbing, just like a warped one would. A good scrub with a wet-stone and normal service was resumed.

Have you read that article Paul, it flatly refuses warped discs exist! Curious....

The FCF did go down last evening. Not sure when or when it came back up again...

I'm not saying anything more on the subject of warped discs until I see what happens when the suspect one in question is replaced ;)
