That will be very interesting taking apart a Wankel engine. Definitely keeps us posted Jim on that one.

Shame about the Xantia, but at least you have the best back up car in the world! That'll teach ya for redlining!!  bet it is hard not to however! 8-)

The sound of a V6 on full chat is very addictive Russ so I know I'll do it again but if a rad pops each time it could turn out an expensive addiction :lol

And the XM V6 sounds nicer than the Xantia V6 too... Different exhaust systems...

It's strange, I just don't recall the XM V6 exhaust note at all. I am completely addicted to the Xantia V6 note  , but just don't recall the XM's ;) Huh!

From my memory the XM S2 V624v hardly makes a sound compared to the S1 Russ, but then I have not heard one red-lined!! Something like the smoothness of a sewing machine comes to mind. Regards, Matthew T.

That's about right Matthew :D They are not noisy at all, far from it... Under normal running they sound like an enormous cat purring, a very deep bassy, rumbly purr.. Open the taps right up and the volume doesn’t increase much but a very distinctive V tune begins to play...

Certainly very different to the S1 bark but lovely all the same. I will always say that for sheer soundtrack quality the S1 V6 24V is in it's own league...

I'm sure at CXM we'll be able to hear and enjoy all families of XM V6 ;)

robert_e_smart wrote:I'd not bother changing the tyres Jim. They are standard on XM TCTs, and more readily available in that size too. If you are serious about buying 205 65 15, drop me a PM. I have a good contact for Michelin Energy Savers in that size.

The XM, a masterpiece indeed, think of all the different engine swops you could do with the PSA choices! Apparently some folk in Ireland put 1.9TDs in TCT XMs back in the day. I can only imagine how slow they must be!
I've seen an XM estate with a 1.9TD engine, with no intercooler even. The irony was that the chap bought the car for the 2.1TD engine and found it had a 1.9 in it.

That would be why I can't recall it if it is sooo silky and quite.
That would be fun to hear all models of V6.

It sounds like someone's idea of "fun", working on that Massochista! Any kind of a win is good for the self esteem I find, but I did notice there didn't seem to be enough profanities to go round when the SED failed to proceed this morning!

That's a very fair description Rob    But you're right, the feeling of achievement and satisfaction is immense. I was that good sort of tired last evening and was very content..

Apologies we used up more than our fair share of profanities and there was not enough for you this morning
