the new pad

Post by messerschmitt owner » Wed Mar 06, 2013 9:16 pm

Well, have moved, am a little more settled, two hundred or so boxes have been emptied and another hundred or so remain and I have started attacking the garage and workshop area, and am starting to store away stuff in there and generally make it a little more workmanlike.

So, as you all know, I purchased a house in the wilds of Gloucestershire, in the Forest, no less! In bred jokes can start now.

Here it is

It started off life as a pub - and dates from before 1756, then became a butcher's, a blacksmith's, a dairy, an ice cream factory, a musical instrument repair workshop and now our house.

Car parking can be classed as 'adequate'

I'd say I could fit at least one other car in this space!

the house itself is big, so big we have two rooms we don't know what to do with them!

The garage is a reasonable size too - if still full of stuff at the moment.

I have only just started to fill the loft - it has some car panels in it, nothing more, just now.

But we have the following spaces!

Garage itself, which I am endeavouring to keep empty of everything apart from three cars.

even space for the scooter - note the rather sorry for itself Bond - I hadn't seen it in its old shed for about four years!

The dexion racking you see here is part of a bay of three foot square shelves that will help form a 9ftx3ft workbench in the entrance to the workshop area

All I need to do is clear this area of all this stuff ...

Image

the office is a sensible size!

from one corner ...

to the other ...

it leads to this ...

which is currently the tool store! But will soon become a small workshop.

Off the front workshop is a proper store ...

I inherited the shelving on the left and that on the right came from my old study - it even has light and power.

Today, I went to the tip with a load of packing materials and saw this in the small electrical appliances section - there was even a brand new stylus sitting with it - it was swiftly loaded into the car. It all works but I do need to find a pair of speakers for it.

Russ

it was two 18 ton removal vans, two vans, three cars full, plus I had cars littered up the old street for four days after we got the keys!

Finally had everything moved by the Saturday and the last month has been emptying and tidying!

Ìmpressive I have to say! Love it! The messerschmidt, that Garrard I remember, my dad had one. Played my first singles on it much to his dislike :) Good luck with it all!

The "Forest" is a special place. I lived in Mitcheldean until I was four (in the police station as it happens) and when we moved over the river to Chipping Campden my parents despaired of me ever learning English! Just to spite them I became an English teacher for 33 years :-0

Pleased to see you are settling in to a house that has lots going for it. Just don't ask who killed the bears...

Rob
PS If you are working in Stroud over the next few days you may see about in the XM as I shall be down to visit the aged the parents.
Regards

Rob

Plenty of parking and garage space - just the job. One of those messerschmitts's resided in Lyme Regis a few years ago.
