Now you're talking Jaap....Single Malts...Dalwhinnie or even a Talisker :D
NO water.

Yeah quite agree, if it goes, stops and changes gear okay, you can ignore a flashing warning light!

£100 is more like it for a bespoke exhaust.

That was just a link pipe, but it had two bends in, so I couldn't make it myself.

Jim, the exhaust availability is a pain.

I fitted a s/h 2.5 one that I had by using a short link piece half way along bought off eBay, two clamps and an angle grinder to cut the old one in the right place. Outside its a bit noisier than standard, but if you get stuck its a cheap option. Maybe same approach with exhast from another petrol XM exhaust would be better.

The joys of old Citroens Jim! It is essentially a good car at the bottom of it all. A petrol car thats kicking 15 years old that needs exhaust repairs is power for the course. All of the ES9 V6 Xantia and XM exhausts are made of unobtainium, PRV cars share some exhaust parts with 2.1 TDs, 2.5s were made in large numbers also. But look at the positive, when you have a stainless exhaust, it will never need touched again.

The tyres to be fair aren't far wrong Jim. I have fitted 205 60 15s to 2.5s I owned which were meant to be 205 65 15 and had no problems at all. My priority was having good quality legal tyres on the car. I am going to fit 205 65 15 tyres I took of another XM to my series 1 XM which should have 195 65 15s on it. They are standard XM sizes, and won't affect speedo readings very much (again how accurate are they at this age?).

Enjoy the car for what it is Jim. I think its a good starting point to being a very nice car.

I was very sorry to hear about your exhaust problem and other issues Jim and it greatly surprised me that the later 24v parts cannot be obtained. On both the S1 V6 models availability is okay at present and much smaller numbers of PRV 24v must have been sold. I checked the supplier I have used RSJ Motorfactors and indeed they do not list anything other than the cat! Hope to hear better news from you soon! With regards, Matthew T.

On reflection Jim, if you are after a replacement rather than a specially manufactured exhaust system, I would be tempted to look towards Germany and France, possibly ebay, to find either a breaker or a supplier of new parts! With regards, Matthew T.

Hi all,
During my Mot last week the tester said the joint from the cat to the next box was blowing and suggested i had it welded up and gave me the name of a independant exaust maker, took it down to him and told him what had been said he examined it and decided it was too fare gone and he would have to cut it and put a piece in. 1 6" piece of pipe later and it was job done all for £40 cash in hand and now its so much quieter, funny have they get noisier slowly and you dont notice.

Regards,
Norman
